‘The Bills have allowed an NFL-worst 1,238 yards rushing so far this season.’

Bills-Texans Preview
‘”I’ve got a lot of respect for Mario,” Kubiak said. “I think a lot of him as a person and a player. He’s a hell of a player. You got to pay a great deal of attention to him. We got to play good to beat their football team and Mario is a big part of that.”‘
Bills’ Mario Williams said he didn’t leave Houston, he had no choice
‘”Everybody looks at it as that you just up and leave, but you don’t know the fact of being told, ‘We’re not giving you anything’ as far as an offer so you’re hands are tied in that aspect and everybody else looks at it like he just went to free agency and left. There was plenty of time for things to be done and it wasn’t and that’s fine with me, I just wish everybody that runs their mouth and says this or that and doesn’t know the whole story about it before making a decision about me just abandoning the fans, the team and everything else because that’s not me, I’m not that type of guy.”‘
Bills CB Brooks staying ready for the call
‘”Basically [I’m] just playing it by ear seeing what they’re going to do and how they’re gonna go about this,” Brooks said. “But, everything is really out of my control. It’s just, sit back and see what the coaches want to do.”‘
Mario Williams returns to practice; Two Bills sit
‘With head coach Chan Gailey saying on Wednesday that chances of their high-priced defensive end being ready to play against the Houston Texans were “in the 90s,” the seventh-year player getting back to work is a big step in that direction.’
Bills’ hoping to be healthier
‘Gailey said Terrence McGee will give it a try and that Mark Anderson won’t decide on practice until Thursday, but it’s not looking good.’
Russ Brandon: Lease Deal Not Imminent
‘During his weekly segment on WGR, Brandon said “there is nothing imminent at all” but they are having very productive talks. Brandon added they are making progress but declined to give any timetable for an agreement.’
Williams has ”something to prove”
‘”I have something extra to prove in general,” said Williams. “Definitely with everything going on, it has not been the way I really wanted it. Going out, making an impact and just being better to help the team win. It is just a coincidence it is this week after the bye week… Just happened to be against this team.”‘
No Excuses For Mario and Bills
‘It’s easy to put a huge share of the blame for this season’s under achievement on Mario Williams, but he has plenty of company to share the responsibility. I like the fact that Chris Kelsay called out the entire team (including himself) and that nearly every player nodded their head in agreement with Kelsay’s right to express that opinion. Now let’s see if that was just lip service or if they actually believe they can play with some urgency. We’ve heard of litany of explanations for the abysmal failure of the defense, led in large part by well deserved criticism of Dave Wannstedt’s schemes, but at some point the game is just about tackling the man with the ball. The man with the ball on Sunday will be Arian Foster, who should be as excited as a 6 year old on Halloween to play against the Bills run defense.’
Mario Williams: ”I have something extra to prove”
‘At the end of the day, I have something extra to prove in general. Definitely with everything going on, it has not been the way I really wanted it. Going out, making an impact and just being better to help the team win. It is just a coincidence it is this week after the bye week. Everybody has time off to kind of regroup and look at things. Just happened to be against this team.’
Ryan Fitzpatrick: ”Texans are in the top 5 for a reason”
‘A lot of times, if a defensive linemen bats it down, he bats it down. The one thing is if you are getting a lot of batted balls, you hope that there is not a lot of pressure and they are sitting waiting back trying to trying to jump and bat them. They do a great job of getting pressure on the quarterback so it will be a big challenge for us. Not only up front, but the guys on the back end. They have some good players. Jonathan Joseph I played with in Cincinnati for a few years and they have done a good job. They are in the top five for a reason. It will be a good challenge for us.’
Chan Gailey: ”Every week is critical”
‘To me every week is critical. I cannot say that there is one more critical week than another. You are fighting your rear off to get yourself into a position to get yourself into the playoffs. That is what you do every week. So every week is critical.’
