Bills DE Kelsay to miss Dolphins with neck injury
‘Kelsay did not practice Wednesday and has been out since getting hurt during practice last week. The team has not revealed the exact nature of the injury.’
Miami (4-5) at Buffalo (3-6)
‘Bills 23, Dolphins 20.’
5 things to watch for during Bills – Dolphins
‘Yes, the Bills have lost five of their last six. No, the Bills have not won a primetime game since before the first Harry Potter movie was released to theaters. And no, the Bills did not beat Miami at all last season. However, the way these two teams match up leads me to believe the Bills could come away victorious in this contest. Miami is limping in, while the Bills were within one play from beating a Super Bowl contender. With C.J. Spiller featured prominently and a few of the offensive players on Miami’s side struggling as of late, I think it could be a recipe for success for the Bills to snap their three-game losing streak.’
This has to be desperation the whole way
‘If we’re being realistic, the Bills will either have to run the table or go 6-and-1 to get into the post season.’
Bills’ Kelsay out, Dareus probable vs Dolphins
‘For the second straight week, defensive end Chris Kelsay will not be able to play for the Bills because of a neck injury suffered in a practice leading up to Sunday’s game against New England. Kelsay joins Mark Anderson, Aaron Williams and Fred Jackson as the four players officially listed as out for the contest against Miami.’
Upon Further Review- Bills OL & DL vs Patriots
‘Like the story with Kyle Moore, Mario Williams also had a game better than advertised. There were times when he was outworked by his assignment, but Williams played with a similar edge that he had against the Houston Texans. He helped flush Brady from the deep drop a few times in the game, and was also stout against the run. Mario Williams was not the defense’s problem against New England. In fact, none of the starting defensive linemen were.’
Call it a choke
‘I think in their last three losses Ryan Fitzpatrick has choked in two of them.’
Kyle Moore benefits from personal military connection
‘Born in Schweinfurt, Germany, Moore quickly learned what it was like to be a military child. The Bills defensive end lived with his family in Europe for four years before moving to the states, and remembers bits and pieces of his time overseas. His father, an Army 1st Sergeant was always on the move.’
Stevie Johnson: ”It’s time to turn it around”
‘You can I mean yeah, we can build off of that but we need to get wins forget the whole ‘we played well, we got first downs, we scored this many points.’ If you don’t win the game then it really doesn’t matter that is pretty much the attitude that I have and hopefully everyone else around the locker room has.’
Kyle Williams: ”There’s no law that says it can’t be done”
‘We’ve all talked about it and just kind of looking ahead of us all the teams that were getting ready to play are kind of where we are. They’re fighting to get in to the last spot or so. I think just kind of the general thought is that it only takes a spark to start a fire and that spark is winning one football game. If we win one, I think guys feel good about making a run here at the end of the year.’
Scouting Report – Week 11
‘C.J. Spiller is going to need to be effective against Miami’s top 10 run defense. That means getting positive four-yard gains as much as delivering a handful of big plays. Buffalo’s ground game has to be more effective than Miami’s to control the clock and limit the Dolphins number of possessions.’
Stevie Johnson questions T.J. Graham’s role on final play
‘”We know T.J. can make that play,” Johnson said. “We know he can. I don’t think that it was the wrong play, but just the whole thing leading up to it, which is he didn’t run that play in practice at all. It was not his fault at all. I’ve ran that play, or Scott (Chandler) ran it or Donald (Jones) runs it. But in that situation, I guess things were hurried up, and we had people in positions where maybe you shouldn’t have been. Who knows what would’ve happened if it was Donald or me or Scott there? So there’s no blame on T.J. at all because he’s never ran that route in practice or a game.”‘
Dolphins’ defense offers a physical test to foes
‘”They’re a very good front seven,” said Bills guard Kraig Urbik. “They have very good linebackers. Their D-line is playing at a high level. They have big guys to plug the holes. They bring a lot of different looks on blitzes. We’ve got to be on our game.”‘
Players seek rest in short week
‘”You try to be smart about what you do to get these guys ready for the game mentally and you hope they rest enough,” Bills coach Chan Gailey said. “Rest is the key to me. You have to be as fresh as you can be going into this ball game."’
