Bills’ Kelsay, ”Not everybody was playing hard every snap”
‘Kelsay went on to say, “There’s no excuse for it. We put in way too much time and effort during the week. I thought we practiced really well throughout the week, but if you don’t play on Sunday, if you can’t translate to the game field then it’s all for not. Coaches put in a ton of time, a lot of effort, we’re all away from our families, we make this what it is. It’s important to our livelihood. It’s a blessing to be in this league and then to go out there and lay an egg, there’s no excuse for it.”‘
Grand Plan: A Look at the Proposed Outer Harbor Stadium
‘Freeman has been pushing a downtown stadium for some time and is working with the company behind this plan. 2 on Your Side asked him about the biggest obstacle: funding. The cost is estimated at $1.4 billion.’
Kelsay calls defense out on the carpet
‘”At the end of the day that’s who is on the field,” he said. “Coaches coach and players play. We might have to grab guys by the shirt collar and tell them to get to moving. It’s nothing personal, but we’re relying on you. Myself included. If I’m not doing my job I expect Kyle (Williams) to grab me by the neck and tell me to get going. That’s what it’s going to take. We’ve got a lot of young guys. We’re going to get everybody on the same page.”‘
Chan Gailey: ”Everybody can do a little bit better”
‘We all fall into that category. Is there more everybody can do? Yes. And that is a challenge for each of us to do the very best that we can every time we walk out there. Everybody can do a little bit better. You say you are doing your best but you have to find a little bit more because we are not where we want to be. I think we can be where we want to be still. But we are not there yet.’
Chris Kelsay: ”There is no excuse for it”
‘There is no excuse for it. We put in way too much time and effort during the week. I thought we practiced really well throughout the week, but if you do not play on Sunday and you cannot translate it to the game field then it is all for naught. Coaches put in a ton of time and a lot of effort. We are all away from our families, we make this what it is and it is our livelihood. It is a blessing to be in this league. To go out there and lay an egg, there is no excuse for it.’
Screen game a bright spot in loss
‘”Again, just getting those guys (Spiller and Jackson) touches as many ways as we can,” Fitzpatrick said. “Whether it is handing the ball off out of the backfield or throwing them screens, we just wanted to get them as many touches as we could. That was part of it. This defense that we played is one that a lot of times will have two high safeties and sit back. If we can get our guys the ball and get them a block then it gives us a good chance to get them in space.”‘
Bills’ flaws exposed in loss to Titans
Bills Gailey Needs To Change Now
‘Last year the Bills defense was bad and there were many calls for Dave Wannstedt to take over the D. Well, you got your wish,. Either Wannstedt has no idea how to coach defense in this era of the NFL (which I do not believe) or his has a bunch of dogs playing for his group. They did appear to make some adjustments in the 3rd quarter to slow down Tennessee but to use a phrase that I am sure Buddy and Chan have said many times, "The horse was way out of the barn" by then. But even with the mess that they were for most of the afternoon they were left with a chance to still win the game because their average quarterback had put 34 points on the board. Instead they failed several times, including on a 4th and 10 and lost the game by the point.’
Police foot patrols make more than 20 arrests at Bills game
‘The charges included everything from disorderly conduct and underage alcohol possession to trademark counterfeiting.’
Titans beat Bills on late Hasselbeck TD pass
‘”At this point the talking is done,” Sheppard said. “It’s over. To lose a game like that in front of your home crowd, it’s embarrassing and it’s pretty sickening.”‘
‘D’ fails to pull out all the stops
‘”I wish that we could play up to the expectations that everybody has for us,” defensive end Chris Kelsay said. “We just are not right now.”‘
Play of defense enough to bring tears to your eyes
‘Just make a play.’
Polian goes on Wall of Fame
‘”This is right at the top,” he said before the Bills’ 35-34 loss to Tennessee. “You learn as you go through a long career that the accolades and the trophies and even the rings don’t mean much. In the end what you’re left with are the experiences, the friendships and the memories, and I wouldn’t trade my time here for anything in the world.”‘
Quarterly report
‘Titans running back Chris Johnson hadn’t scored a touchdown since his last trip to Buffalo, Dec. 4 of last season. That’s a span of 10 games. He more than made up for it in the first quarter Sunday. Johnson rushed five times for 104 yards in the first 15 minutes, scoring twice.’
