‘”When I saw C.J. go down I knew I had to step up and be ready to go. That’s just how the game is, especially at our position,” Choice said. “It was good to get a rhythm, good to get a chance to help my team out that way running the football.”‘

Graham shows he is catching on fast
‘”He made a couple big plays,” Fitzpatrick said. “The third down where we whipped the ball out to him, he makes a nice cut off the block and picks it up. . He stepped up and did some good things for us . We said last week with him, that every week we’ve just got to get him a few more plays, a few more plays and he has to continue to get confidence and play well.”‘
When road got rough, Bills stayed calm
‘”Yeah, we kept our composure,” Kelsay said after the Bills beat Cleveland, 24-14. “Instead of imploding, like we’ve seen in the past, we just kept our cool. We knew that all along the sidelines. At least, I sensed there was never a moment of doubt that we would win this game. And it showed.”‘
Defense gets big plays down the line
‘”I think all of them were playing fast and running around. They were causing havoc and making plays. That’s the way we envision that line playing.”‘
Quarterly Report
‘After Ryan Fitzpatrick hit Stevie Johnson with a touchdown pass to put the Bills ahead by 10 points, the Bills’ defense stymied Cleveland over the final nine minutes. Buffalo got interceptions from Leodis McKelvin and Bryan Scott. The Bills got two fourth-quarter sacks, one by Mark Anderson and one shared by Mario Williams and Marcell Dareus.’
Defense and offense get the job done
‘Bills coach Chan Gailey continued to hit all the right notes despite big injuries.’
Bills defeat Browns, lose Spiller
‘”Let me enjoy this for 24 hours,” coach Chan Gailey said. “We’re going to enjoy this for 24 hours and we’ll re-evaluate everything and see where we are.”‘
Ryan Fitzpatrick needs to help himself
‘It’s never easy for Ryan Fitzpatrick. For every good play he makes, he seems to throw in a clunker, and if he had been sharper in the middle portion of the game, the Bills would have won in a rout because the Browns just aren’t very good. However, when he needed to be good, he was on the fourth-quarter drive that clinched the victory.’
The Buffalo Bills answer Sal’s six points
‘This line is starting to evoke memories of the unit that helped lead the Bills to their Super Bowl run in the early 1990s. They’re not to that level, but they’re getting there. They were charged with a cheap sack, the first of the year, and did a nice job in the run game, paving the way for third-stringer Tashard Choice to rush for 91 yards. It’s a quarterback-driven league, yes, but you also need a solid offensive line because it all starts there.’
Report card
‘It was a terrific day for the Bills’ offensive line. Props to Coach Chan Gailey for being able to adjust to the loss of C.J. Spiller. Despite the win, it was not a great day for the Bills’ secondary and the linebackers, as a whole, left much to be desired.’
Offensive line saves the day
‘Without a household name in the bunch, the Bills’ blockers keyed Sunday’s 24-14 win over the Browns and showed that as long as this unit remains relatively healthy, the wheels won’t fall off the wagon no matter how thin the team gets at the skill positions.’
Bills overcome Spiller injury to beat Browns
‘”When I saw C.J. go down I knew I had to step up and be ready to go,” said Choice. “That’s just the way the game goes, especially at our position.”‘
Buffalo holds off Cleveland ñ Week three Bills report card
‘Coaching: There were way too many penalties today (10 for 75 yards). I thought they did a great job taking away the run and putting the game in Weeden’s hands. Once they got pressure on him he turned the ball over. The offense looked great with Spiller in there, but struggled a little without him. Next week will be interesting because Fitzpatrick will need to do more than manage the game. Grade: A-‘
Costly, ugly win for Bills
‘Moments after scoring the Bills’ second touchdown of the game, on a nifty 32-yard catch and run that dazzled the Browns defence, Spiller’s afternoon – and likely a handful more – come to an end when he separated his shoulder at the end of another long run.’
Spiller gets a cold shoulder
‘”I don’t believe it’s long term,” Bills coach Chan Gailey said. “I think he’s going to be out for sure this week and then we’ll see where it goes from there.”‘
