‘”When I saw C.J. go down I knew I had to step up and be ready to go,” said Choice. “That’s just the way the game goes, especially at our position.”‘

Buffalo holds off Cleveland ñ Week three Bills report card
‘Coaching: There were way too many penalties today (10 for 75 yards). I thought they did a great job taking away the run and putting the game in Weeden’s hands. Once they got pressure on him he turned the ball over. The offense looked great with Spiller in there, but struggled a little without him. Next week will be interesting because Fitzpatrick will need to do more than manage the game. Grade: A-‘
Costly, ugly win for Bills
‘Moments after scoring the Bills’ second touchdown of the game, on a nifty 32-yard catch and run that dazzled the Browns defence, Spiller’s afternoon – and likely a handful more – come to an end when he separated his shoulder at the end of another long run.’
Spiller gets a cold shoulder
‘”I don’t believe it’s long term,” Bills coach Chan Gailey said. “I think he’s going to be out for sure this week and then we’ll see where it goes from there.”‘
Buffalo, where NFL parity goes to die
‘They beat Cleveland 24-14, their first road win since the opening game. Of last year. Without Spiller, the offence went from clockwork to robotic. If Buffalo is getting better, they’re doing a masterful job of keeping it a surprise.’
Bills overcome loss of Spiller for rare road win
‘The defense came up big, too, chipping in with four sacks and two late interceptions of Browns rookie quarterback Brandon Weeden, who couldn’t overcome a slow start.’
Current Browns not making much of a case for Haslam
‘This was a Bills team, after all, that was a complete disaster in its other road trip so far this season, getting blown out by 20 points by the Jets.’
Choice steps up big for Bills with Spiller out
‘”I think we all knew what he brought to our football team,” Gailey said. “Nobody else did because we’ve got two marquee guys. It’s great to have a guy like that on your football team that can go in and play the way he played, run the football, protect the football on a wet day, and play special teams.”‘
Buffalo Bills Week 3 Report Card
‘This was a well coached game. When Spiller left the game, Chan Gailey probably had to change his game plan a little bit. (Okay, a lot.) It helped that Fitzpatrick was steady today (208 yards and three touchdowns) and Tashard Choice did rush for 91 yards. Gailey and the coaching staff did a good job today. The Bills looked prepared and they had the right game plan to beat the Browns.’

Fitzpatrick’s 3 TD passes lifts Bills over Browns
‘Fitzpatrick finished 22 of 35 for 208 yards as the Bills (2-1) turned to their passing game after Spiller, the NFL’s leading rusher, was lost in the first quarter with a shoulder injury.’
Bills’ Spiller out with shoulder injury
‘The NFL’s leading rusher was hurt as he was tackled after catching a short pass and picking up 25 yards. Spiller was in obvious pain as he stayed on the ground for several minutes before he was helped to his feet by trainers. He grasped his left arm as he walked off the field before being carted to the locker room for further evaluation and treatment.’
Browns make switch at safety against Bills
‘There were no major lineup changes for the Bills. As expected, running back C.J. Spiller will start for Fred Jackson, sidelined with a sprained knee. Spiller enters the game as the NFL’s leading rusher, averaging 10.1 yards per carry.’
Buffalo 24, Cleveland 14
‘Fitzpatrick threw for 208 yards on 22-of-35 efficiency, connecting seven times with Stevie Johnson, whose touchdown catch in the fourth quarter accounted for the game’s final margin. T.J. Graham and C.J. Spiller also caught touchdown passes to help the Bills (2-1) end their eight-game road skid.’
