‘"He’s done a very good job," Gailey said. "We have put him in some tough situations having to play both sides and he’s handled it extremely well. He’s got his weight down, so he’s quicker now than he was when he reported to camp. He’s a very intelligent football player. He could flip from side to side so we feel very fortunate to have a guy like Chris."’

‘Brooks could be a candidate for a new NFL rule this year that allows clubs to re-activate one player from injured reserve during the season. Only players with a major injury (of six weeks or more) who are placed on IR after 4 p.m. Tuesday are eligible to be reactivated. Such a player is eligible to come back to the active roster eight weeks after going on IR.’

‘That’s more boastful than anything that’s come out of the Bills front office in a while and speaks to the fact Buffalo believes its days as a doormat are over.’

‘”It’s a bit like a college team for me,” Lindell said. “You’ve grown up with it and seen the changes and you feel more part of it as opposed to coming in halfway through a season. You feel like you’re part of the team and the community and it’s nice to be able to play for your favorite team.”‘

‘But with just veterans Stevie Johnson, Donald Jones, and David Nelson along with rookie T.J. Graham, the Bills may not be in position to employ as many exotic schemes even if running backs Fred Jackson and C.J. Spiller are split out.’

‘”I feel really confident,” Fitzpatrick said. “I’ve got a lot of confidence in myself and the group. I know guys have a lot of confidence, too. At this point, we’re not desperate, we’re not that worried that we didn’t score 50 points every preseason game. There’s a lot of positives with things that are going on.”‘

‘The Bills like their depth at receiver but other than Johnson there are no proven commodities at the top of the depth chart.’

‘. “I was taught when I was younger that the best thing for a young quarterback is to spread things out so that they can actually see who is coming. By the offense being so spread out you are able to identify blitzes a little bit easier. But by being spread out you are going to get a lot more blitzes. That is something that I am going to have to work on as far as learning the system, knowing where my hot reads are and being able to get the ball out as quick as possible.”‘

‘”He had surgery and they said it went extremely well and we’ll see where this takes us from here,” said Gailey.’

‘On when the Practice Squad will be announced: It may take a day or two. There were some guys on some other teams that we were interested in so it will take a while to get them in here, but we do not practice till Monday so I think it will be OK.’
