‘The Bills still need to determine who’ll line up opposite top wideout Stevie Johnson. David Nelson seems entrenched in the slot, and third-round draft choice T.J. Graham will be here awhile. But the rest of the depth chart remains a curiosity.’

‘”It’s not make or break,” quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick said, “but I think we have that mindset that we’re going to come out and we’re going to be more clean in terms of the pre-snap penalties and in terms of our execution and making sure that we have the right assignments for blocking the right guys, throwing to the right guys, running the right routes, and then coming out healthy.”‘

”’They’ve made it tough this whole time,” Gailey said. ”Vince was really behind the eight-ball early. But he’s come on strong. So it’s going to be a tough decision for us.”’

‘The ruling against Young was made in New York State Supreme Court in Manhattan on July 2, according to court documents.’

‘Carrington knows he has to play better, “I’m attacking it like I’ve got to do something like everybody else. You don’t want to be here and just be idle I guess you could say. I’m not going to say I wanna have a breakout year, but I don’t want to have a bad year obviously so I’m going to work as hard as I can, like I always do and see what comes of this season.”‘

‘It was up in the air leading up to the game, but it looks like Jared Allen will be able to play against the Bills. He likely won’t have every rep at left tackle like last week, but rookie Cordy Glenn will certainly see Allen lined up in front of him at least a few times. He went up against Orakpo and performed relatively well, but wasn’t dominant by any means. Glenn and Chris Hairston both have a big task at hand in trying to stop one of the most productive pass-rushers in the current NFL landscape.’

‘In the battle for the number two quarterback job, Tyler Thigpen got snaps with the second team offense against Washington and Vince Young ran with the threes. The two signal callers will switch roles for the Minnesota game with Young taking snaps with the second unit. Ideally Gailey would like to keep the snaps for Young and Thigpen even.’

‘"Linebacker will be a very tough call," coach Chan Gailey said. "A lot of those guys are playing maybe better than we thought they would this early. So they’re making it tough on us, which is a good thing, by the way."’

‘Said Fitzpatrick: “For me that team work is really important in terms of getting out there with a live rush. I wanted to make sure I focused on that and gave the other guys some time in 7 on 7 to get down some of the timing and throws. … You throw every day (at camp). As soon as preseason games start, then you start getting those off days and it becomes more and more fresh. My arm feels good and once you hit the season you’re not throwing every day so it’s never an issue.”‘

‘”Camp was good,” Gailey said. “I really think we accomplished a great deal. We were able to evaluate a lot of players and I think our players got better.”‘

‘Coach Chan Gailey said tests came back negative and added that Heard should be ready to play in the Bills’ second preseason game at Minnesota on Friday.’

‘”It was twofold. Ryan had taken a bunch of throw and we wanted to get him some rest. We wanted the other guys to make a lot of throws and further evaluation of those two guys. It was really a twofold thing. Ryan didn’t throw in one-on-ones for a couple of days. We are just taking that opportunity to get them reps and to rest him.”‘

‘Tackles Erik Pears and James Carmon rested, but Chan Gailey said both have a chance to play against the Vikings. Others not working Wednesday were TE Kevin Brock, DE Robert Eddins, S Josh Nesbitt and CB Justin Rogers. CB Terrence McGee was very limited. Kellen Heard returned after having x-rays on his wrist and Gailey thinks he’ll likely play Friday.’

‘You get some (team bonding). You get most of that in the offseason nowadays. They spend so much time with each other. I think that is overrated somewhat. But I do think they hang around with each other and get to know each other better, especially some of the new guys trying to break in.’

‘"Every day I’ve just got to keep working and keep trying to make splash plays out here and show the coaches I can play," Moore said. "I just can’t take any steps backward. I have to keep doing it, rotate in with these guys, show I can play up to their level, and execute the defense."’
