Mark Anderson and Kyle Moore both got more time with the second group than Merriman, who played with both the second and third string units in the game.’

‘This is Young’s best and perhaps last chance to resurrect his career and he’s making the most of it. Playing with second-unit personnel in a preseason game against Minnesota, Young went eight of 14 for 123 yards, including a pretty 64-yard strike to rookie wide receiver T.J. Graham to set up a touchdown. He did not turn the ball over and was able to show off his arm strength, which hasn’t waned. Young outplayed Tyler Thigpen, who threw a late interception that was returned for a touchdown, and took a huge leap toward securing the No. 2 job.’
