‘”We’re a lot further along with how to use him and what we’re going to try to do with him,” said Gailey. “I think we’ve got a chance to have a great little package with him. It’s going to be good for us I think.”‘

Q & A: QB Brad Smith
‘What are you looking forward to this season? BS: Playing. Playing that first game against the Jets and taking that first step toward a special season. You know, it takes one step and that’s the first one. That’s a big one for us.’
Scott turns into safety valve
‘"Bryan is a really good football player that a lot of people have not heard about," coach Chan Gailey said. "He is a leader first of all. He has a great understanding of the game. He knows defense. He can play coverage. He has gotten so much better at the run just working with Sanders at the nickel spot. He is a valuable member of our football team and especially our defense."’
Young expected to win backup quarterback job
‘”Vince did a good job,” coach Chan Gailey said. “He hit the big pass, made a check out there and got us in a good spot to score the touchdown. He did good. Tyler had done good until he threw the interception. The last two throws he had were not good throws, but up until that he had played pretty well. But you’d have to say Vince came out a little bit ahead tonight.”‘
Strategy And Personnel
‘This is Young’s best and perhaps last chance to resurrect his career and he’s making the most of it. Playing with second-unit personnel in a preseason game against Minnesota, Young went eight of 14 for 123 yards, including a pretty 64-yard strike to rookie wide receiver T.J. Graham to set up a touchdown. He did not turn the ball over and was able to show off his arm strength, which hasn’t waned. Young outplayed Tyler Thigpen, who threw a late interception that was returned for a touchdown, and took a huge leap toward securing the No. 2 job.’
Pass rush looks good in loss to Vikings
‘”It is my seventh year in the league, so football is football and our system is pretty simple. We do not make it complicated. We try to keep it easy so we can play fast. You just basically know what you have to do and it is just about going out and being fast.” — DE Mario Williams on his approach to the preseason.’
Traveling With the Buffalo Bills
‘For two seasons I traveled to every Bills game on the road with the team. Now I only travel that way for the preseason. But it’s a pretty amazing experience and it goes on for 16 NFL teams just about every week from September to January. Maybe this is year I will get to travel with the team for a playoff game.’
