‘”I think he has a great feel for people. You can be hard-headed and not try to reach out and see what other people like or care about. He seems to have a way to be able to relate to a lot of different people, a lot of different backgrounds, a lot of different personalities. And that is not an easy thing to do. It is not an easy character trait to have. I do not have it. So he is amazing in that respect. You cannot help but respect the guy for the way he plays and for who he is as a person.” –Coach Chan Gailey commenting on QB Ryan Fitzpatrick’s ability to draw people together.’

Injury to Bills’ Nelson not serious
‘”I think it was more of a strained tendon. There’s no long-term damage. The way it looked on film and the way it felt on the field, I’m very lucky to have the diagnosis I’ve gotten. When it first happened I thought it was blown. The way I fell back, the way Mario came in to it and the way I fell back, I was actually pushed back in to it. You see that stuff happen all the time. I think Wood had that happen to him a couple years ago and he blew out his knee. You see that happen a lot. So I thought I was done. Coming in and testing on it and it all came back negative, so it’s a positive sign and I should be back in a few days.”‘
Easley, Young Wideouts Have Big Night
‘Easley said afterward “I made a couple of plays today but that’s just the nature of the position. You learn from the bad plays and if you make good plays you just move on and move forward to the next day.” If he can continue making plays the way he did Sunday night that would make Chan Gailey’s job that much tougher and that’s just the way the Bills head coach likes it.”‘
Bills Practice Under the Lights
‘”It was great,” said Gailey. “I know it was good for the fans. And I know it was good for our team. Our guys love coming into a night practice and the atmosphere that is here. You get people here that are all Bills fans. It is a lot of fun.”‘
Nelson gets fortunate diagnosis
‘”It’s a strained tendon in the knee,” Nelson said Sunday. “It’s nothing what it should have been. The way I fell back and the way it all happened, I’m very blessed to have that diagnosis. So, we’re just trying to be safe with it, so I don’t have any long term damage.”‘
Practice Notes – Day 4 – Young WRs make plays
‘”I’m just trying to get better day in and day out,” said Easley. “I made a couple of plays today, but that’s just the nature of the position. You learn from the bad plays and if you make good plays you just move forward to the next day.”‘
Elusive is moniker for Anderson
‘”When he came in as a rookie his pass rushing skills were way more advanced than any of the other rookies that came in,” Brown told Buffalobills.com. “Tommie Harris was drafted way ahead of him and a real good pass rusher, but he didn’t have the ability to torque his body the way that Mark can. Mark can really elude punches and really give offensive tackles a tough angle to try to put their hands on him. And on top of that he’s fast.”‘
Defensive end competition
‘”We’ve got a lot of talent on the defensive line,” Kelsay says, “really at every position. They’re gonna give everybody a look, and it’s gonna be a competition, but it’s fun that way. It keeps everybody on their toes. It keeps everybody out here competing, nobody’s missing practice, because you miss practice here or there, you may not be around.”‘
In a key year for the Bills franchise, team must find a way to build a winner
Johnson returns to Bills a changed man
‘"I think everybody had some doubt. You never know until it happens. I certainly wanted him back and I hoped it worked out," Gailey said. "I have said it a hundred times if I have said it once: Stevie is a good guy. He really is. Did he make a decision that was not good for him and the team and for me? Yeah. But he is a good guy and he is a great receiver. He really is."’
D-line controls practice in pads
‘”I thought the defense dominated the practice,” coach Chan Gailey said. “We got a lot of work to do on offense to meet their level of play right now. So it’s a little bit different than it has been, and it’s good for our football team.”‘
Happy end unlikely on Bills lease
‘In any event, Poloncarz – to mix metaphors – needs to play hardball. If the Bills balk at a screws-tight lease, I see a Plan B: Extend the current lease on a year-to-year basis. Delay improvements until a new owner arrives, then offer a $200 million stadium face-lift if the team stays. If the next owner declines, we will have saved the cost of fixing up a now-empty stadium.’
Fred Jackson happy, healthy
‘”I’ve been ready to go, training hard all offseason. The time is here and I’m ready to go.”’
Bills’ Bryan Scott stays true to his school
‘”I’m still Penn State proud and I still support the school,” said Scott as he walked off the practice field at St. John Fisher, stopping to sign autographs.’
Carder around the ball in camp for the Bills
‘”Carder looks like he can be a great player,” Bills linebacker Nick Barnett said. “It’s a different game from college and you’ve got to learn a lot. These coaches are going to demand a lot from you as players. They’ve got some time with OTAs and mini camps.”‘
