Bills players help to reel in Anderson
‘”He played a big part,” said Anderson of Williams recruiting role. “I knew Mario from Houston and knew what type of guy he was. He played a big part. The whole defensive line played a big part. The whole coaching staff, the team, I saw how hard this team worked last year. They started off good, but had a few injuries along the way, but now it seems like everyone is back and ready to go. I’m just happy to be a part of this organization.”‘

‘It was just maturing. I had to grow up as a player. My role changed as the year progressed. I had to learn the game more. Coming in as a rookie I was out there going off of pure talent and athleticism. As the years went along I matured along the way. I had great coaches break down different responsibilities to me and different situations that I would be put in as a defensive end. Like I said, as the years went along I matured and I was able to adapt and understand what works and what doesn’t work in this league and what’s best for me as a pass rusher.’
Bills agree to terms with S Scott
‘”I wanted to be in Buffalo,” said Scott. “It’s my home and I wanted to be there. I’m proud to say I’m still a Bill.”‘

Bills host free agent DE Anderson
‘At 6’4″ and 255 pounds Williams played for New England last season, posted 10 sacks in what initially was a rotational role before fellow teammate Andre Carter was lost for the season with a knee injury. Set to turn 29 in May, Anderson’s 2011 season was his most productive since his 12-sack season as a rookie with Chicago in 2006.’
Wannstedt: pass rush success will be collective
‘”As our defensive front goes so goes our defense,” Wannstedt told Buffalobills.com. “There’s no question Mario is someone we really needed desperately. When you can get a young player like him and fit him in with the group it’s a real positive, but he’s another piece to the puzzle.”‘
Mario’s signing leaves Bills with draft options
‘"We have the 10th pick in the draft," Kelly said. "This changes it a little bit. You have so many different options now. This is something I’m sure Buddy [Nix] and the scouting department … they’re licking their chops because there’s a lot of different options now. I’m excited about it."’
Things are looking up for newsroom Bills fans
‘don’t expect Erie to turn into a mini-Buffalo. There are far too many fans of the Black and Gold to ever let that happen. But our numbers are growing, both inside our newsroom and out.’
WR Hagan re-signs with the Bills
‘Hagan caught 13 passes for 138 yards and a touchdown in four games with the Bills in 2011 after joining the team Nov. 22.’
Russ Brandon on Ticket Sales, Stadium Upgrades
‘Russ Brandon: “It’s really not, it’s really church and state. It’s a mischaracterization of how that part of our business works, compared to the other end of our business, so we’ll just focus on trying to field the best team possible and trying to work within the salary cap that’s presented to us and just move from there.”‘
Bills re-sign WR Hagan
‘Hagan (6’2″ 215) began last season with the Raiders and played against the Bills in Week 2, before later signing with Buffalo on Nov. 22nd following a midseason release. He appeared in four games for Buffalo making his only start in the season finale against New England where he posted a season-high seven catches for 89 yards. His only touchdown reception for the Bills came against the team that originally drafted him, Miami on Dec. 18.’
Does Williams signing change draft approach?
‘”We could bring in some guys that could plug in some holes, but I think the big thing it does for us is it frees us up in the draft,” he said. “We weren’t going to reach anyway, but we’re not going to be tempted to reach. We’re not going to reach for a pass rusher that may not be a 10th pick guy that we don’t have graded that high. We relieved that some. Now that’s not to say we won’t take a pass rusher at that point. We will if he’s the best player on the board.”‘
Buffalo Bills hope Mario Williams can have a debut like Bryce Paup
‘Paup was a 27-year-old (same age as Williams) Green Bay Packers free agent when the Bills signed him to a 3-year, $7.6 million contract. He led the NFL with 17.5 sacks and was selected NFL Defensive Player of the Year. He made the Pro Bowl all three seasons with Buffalo (1995-96-97). He was bothered by a groin injury and had 6 sacks in 1996 and 9.5 sacks in 1997.’
