‘”He understands exactly what we’re trying to get done in the passing game,” said Gailey. “We think he’ll give us a great deal of help at the receiver position. He had to be involved in the ins and outs of the passing game having to know all the positions so we think that’ll help us.”‘

Bills hire a quarterback mechanic in Lee
‘"He’s a great technician, he understands the game extremely well and we’re fortunate to have a guy of David’s caliber coaching the quarterbacks. I think he’ll bring a great deal of help to Fitz and to Tyler [Thigpen] and to all our quarterbacks, whoever they might be," Bills coach Chan Gailey said. "From the fact that he is such a technical coach he knows the ins and outs of playing the quarterback position and, as I said, we’re glad to have him."’
Lee’s keys to successful quarterbacking
‘”Number one is accuracy,” said Lee. “Accuracy is the number one critical factor. Two, I think is toughness. Three, decision making. Four, would be the ability for the quarterback to extend a play, we call this escape ability. Five, is leadership. Six, is he a pressure player?”‘
Bills re-sign comfortable Lindell
‘"I like all the people in the organization, just from when you first walk in the door — I know everybody," he said. "I’m familiar with everybody and I’m comfortable. The snap and the hold with Garrison (Sanborn) coming back and Brian (Moorman) back — they’re as good as anybody in at what they do. I like the coaches and I just like the organization."’
Metzelaars excited to return to Bills
‘”I’m excited about the opportunity here,” Metzelaars said. “I just heard good things about what they’re doing here, great things about Chan (Gailey), the type of man he is, the organization that he’s put together and that he’s running here.”‘
Bills re-sign K Lindell; hire Metzelaars to coach
‘Lindell was re-signed before he was eligible to become an unrestricted free agent next month. He returns for a 10th season in Buffalo, where he is the team’s second leading scorer with 878 career points. Lindell had played in 180 straight games before being sidelined by a season-ending shoulder injury in November.’
Lindell re-ups with Bills
‘Lindell has made 262 of his 324 (80.9 percent) career field goal attempts.’
Lindell re-signs with Buffalo
‘”It’s great. Like I said going into the offseason talking with coach and Buddy I want to win here,” Lindell told Buffalobills.com. “Obviously you want to win, but I want to win here. This place would go… it went crazy a couple of years back when we were 4-0 and then this year when we were 5-2. To win here I think would be really special so that’s something to look forward to.”‘
Metzelaars to tutor Bills tight ends
‘”You always entertain the thought,” said Metzelaars of returning to coach where he spent most of his days as a player. “You think it would be neat and fun to come back home a bit and coach in Buffalo. It’s been a whirlwind last week, but fun getting to renew a bunch of old acquaintances and contact a bunch of old friends and hopefully spend a lot of time with them over the next few years.”‘
Transcript: TE Coach Pete Metzelaars
‘I think they’re a team that started building in the draft. They missed on some draft picks in the past and it hurt them. When you miss on high draft picks it hurts you in the NFL. They’ve hit some recently and have continued to do so. I think they’re headed in the right direction. Everybody is very positive here and has good feelings about where the organization and the team are headed. They got off to the quick start last year and hit a bad patch and they want to build upon the good things that took place last year. I think the feeling amongst the coaches, the organization, and I think the players is that we are going to build upon the good things that we did last year and let’s go forward from here. I think it’s a very positive outlook on things that are taking place.’
Fitz won’t blame injury for poor play
‘ Still, the news that Fitzpatrick played hurt has to be encouraging for Bills fans. Maybe he’s not the star he appeared to be in the first seven games. But he’s not as bad as he played in the middle of the season, either. If he can find a middle ground, the Bills can still win with him at QB.’
Time to end the NFL’s blackout rule
‘If the blackout rule were dropped, the Bills might actually have to rely on a winning team, rather than the crutch of a federal rule, to fill the stadium. They’d have to think big and probably take a temporary reduction in profit to make on-field success occur, things the Buffalo Bills seem incapable of in their current state.’
Frandina re-joins Bills front office
‘Frandina will be responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of the team’s long-range stadium improvement planning. His previous experience with the Bills, in addition to his engineering background, made him the perfect fit for this role.’
Addressing the pass rush
‘”I think everything would look better if we had some pressure on the passer,” said Bills GM Buddy Nix. “If you can’t disrupt passers in the NFL and make them get out of rhythm and make the move any of them, they’ll wear you out. We had some rookie (quarterbacks we faced) that looked like Dan Marino and we let them look like that way because we let them stand there. You’ve got to disrupt the quarterback.”‘
Tackling Brady insult with humor
‘When it comes to toughness, authenticity and character, few places can touch us. Which makes it easy to laugh off the occasional insult. We know more about the place we live in, and why we choose to live here, than the Tom Bradys of the world ever will.’
