‘”I want to give credit to Corey Webster, he made plays on both,” said Fitzpatrick. “That said, Stevie beat him and I underthrew him. We had two chances to win (those particular plays) and I would have said we’d win 100 percent of the time, but it didn’t happen today and I’ll have to live with that. It’s tough as a quarterback to look all the other guys in the face, but that’s what you have to do as a quarterback and a leader, and you have to be able to move on from that.”‘

‘This defense is pretty bad. On paper, it should be better with the additions of DE Marcell Dareus, LBs Nick Barnett and Shawne Merriman, and some promising young players, but the games aren’t played on paper. The Bills have no semblance of a pass rush, and they still can’t stop the run.’

‘The Bills’ defense had been living off takeaways in the first five games, but they had zero against the Giants, and gave up 414 yards and 27 points. At some point you have to stop the other team, but the Bills allowed scoring drives of 69, 84, 89, 75 and 76 yards.’

‘This group is not getting it done in any area. Playing without Kyle Williams hurt, but even when Williams was in there, things were the same: No pass rush, and big holes for backs to run through. The Bills had no sacks, have only five for the year, and the only two by linemen are by Marcell Dareus and Spencer Johnson. Chan Gailey said it afterward: “We have to find a way to get pressure.” Dwan Edwards had a good game with seven tackles.’

‘The Bills, thriving on converting turnovers into points this season, were victimized by two Corey Webster interceptions – the second of which set up the game-winning drive.’

‘I think Chan Gailey did a good job with the offense. The deep throws were there, they were just poorly thrown. You can’t blame him for calling them. The defense was better in the second half and Manning didn’t get over 300 yards. I thought George Edwards blitzed enough, but no one could get through. The Bills need to work on their pass rush in the bye week. Grade: B-‘

‘His team had been outplayed and out-gained and probably shouldn’t have still had a shot to defeat the New York Giants late in the fourth quarter Sunday afternoon at Met Life Stadium. Yet, when Fitzpatrick took the snap from the Giants 27-yard line with 4:10 remaining in a game tied 24-24, it was almost as if his Harvard education briefly abandoned him.’

‘”Personally, as a fan, I hate it. It’s not safe, number one,” Jones said. And “as a guy who went to Harvard, he should be smart enough to know not to do that.”‘

‘”The two interceptions I threw, you couldn’t ask for a better coverage, couldn’t ask for a better play, couldn’t ask for a better route,” Fitzpatrick said. “They were both the exact same thing with Stevie [Johnson] on a go route. I want to give credit to Corey Webster. He made plays on both of them. ‘So, Fewell reasoned, if his normally hard-charging pass rushers couldn’t bring down the Bills quarterback, they knew they would have to get their hands up and make sure he couldn’t get the ball over them.’

‘”It sucks,” Fitzpatrick said. “This is one of the hardest parts about playing quarterback, when you don’t get the job done. And today I didn’t get the job done.”‘

‘We gave up too many big plays at that, whether it was clutch situations or whether it was just down the field big plays and you can’t do that. And we had some penalties that hurt us on some of those drives and you can’t do that, either. We had chances to win the ballgame and we didn’t do that. And we had been doing that, but we didn’t do that today.’
