‘Needing someone to step up at receiver, David Nelson did. Needing a total team effort to go 2-0, the entire Bills team did.’

Pecking Order: Bills vs. Raiders
‘While we tend to focus on the fact that the team doesn’t have a star, it’s that very fact that appears to be their key to success. They have options for Ryan Fitzpatrick. Based on his background, Fitz is the perfect guy to utilize those options. He doesn’t mind who he throws it to, and he can keep all those guys involved when egos may sometimes get in the way. Maybe the young Bills are just too inexperienced to know any better or care too much.’
Fans see security changes at the Ralph
‘Erie County Sheriff, Timothy Howard said, “We’ve been interviewing people as they arrive at the stadium and see how they actually feel about this procedure right now. We have been getting a 50/50 response, half the people like the idea and the other half are still opposed to it. And they say they had difficulty arriving.”‘
Bills Win Home Opener
‘The lead then changed hands four more times in the fourth quarter in a back and forth offensive shootout with the Bills winning on a six-yard touchdown pass from Ryan Fitzpatrick to David Nelson with 16 seconds remaining for a dramatic 38-35 victory.’
Phil Hansen onto Wall of Fame
‘I think it was just growing up on a poor farm in North Dakota, I mean you had to work. My first organized practice was in 7th grade. My earliest recollection of football was being out there in the 7th grade waiting for the other kids for practice to start. The kids just saying “Gee, this stinks, it’s hot, we just want to play the game.” And I’m just like “I’m just glad to be here, if I was at home I’d really have to be working.” You know that’s my earliest recollection, I guess I just didn’t know it any other way.’
Bills fans experience parking and security changes at home opener
‘”We thought we’d have a few changes with the parking and what time we could get in, but there was no issue whatsoever,” she said.’
Bills come back, hold on
‘As I watched referee Mike Carey head to the hooded camera for the review, all I could think of was the “Music City Miracle.” I’m sure I was not alone.’
One to remember
‘Even with a 2-0 record, the playoffs are still a long shot for the Bills. But David Nelson has a valid point: these are not the same “old Buffalo Bills.” The Bills now have the kind of quarterback and the kind of offence that can keep them in games and on days like today, pull off a wild comeback against a solid opponent.’
Bills rally to beat Raiders 38-35
‘The Bills scored touchdowns on all five of their second-half possessions to overcome a 21-3 first-half deficit. The teams traded leads five times over the final 14:10.’
Bills WR Parrish sidelined by left ankle injury
‘Parrish was hurt while blocking on teammate Stevie Johnson’s 19-yard catch. He lay on the Bills sideline for several minutes, where he was treated by team trainers, before being carted to the locker room.’
Bills induct Hansen onto Wall of Fame
‘Hansen played in three Super Bowls for the Bills after being picked in the second round of the 1991 draft. The North Dakota State product played his entire 11-year career in Buffalo, and started 148 of the 156 career NFL games.’
Raiders missing 3 receivers vs. Bills
‘Buffalo is missing starting cornerback Terrence McGee (hamstring), linebacker Arthur Moats (knee), and defensive lineman Torell Troup (back). McGee is expected to be out at least a couple more weeks after getting hurt on the first play of last week’s win at Kansas City.’
Buffalo 38, Oakland 35
‘Ryan Fitzpatrick completed 28-of-46 passes for 264 yards and three scores while throwing one interception. Fred Jackson scored twice and totalled 117 yards on the ground on 15 carries. He added two catches for 23 yards.’
Immediate Reactions: Bills 38, Raiders 35
‘This was one of those games that cements a player’s toughness in your mind, even without 100% success in said toughness. Stevie Johnson was clearly hampered by his leg injury but played through it. Dropped balls and a missing second gear were far from exemplary, but it wasn’t about this. Johnson fought through the pain and I love that. If anything is to come out of this game, it’s that Stevie Johnson had a Top-Ten WR game in Bills history, all things considered.’
Bills Complete Incredible Comeback Win 38-35
‘Two weeks in a row they shocked me. The blowout road win in the opener was shocking, this comeback win may have been more shocking.’
