Bills Torbor’s season ends. Darius update
‘DE Marcell Dareus was not on crutches, but didn’t practice. He said, “I’m fine. It’s just precautionary. I just want to take it easy. I tweaked my ankle a little bit. I don’t want to take any chances. I just want to relax, do some treatment and ice it up. I’m just being safe. I got kicked in the back of the leg on a play. We were both taking inside moves and I got kicked in the calf. So, we’re just getting it together. I think I’m going to play but we won’t know until that day.”‘
Torbor to IR-Bills await Morrison
‘The Bills are expected to add linebacker Kirk Morrison to the roster officially soon, after he agreed to terms Wednesday night. Morrison spent the day trying to get to Buffalo. And he was recruited to the Bills by current Buffalo linebacker Shawne Merriman.’
8/25 Bills Transcripts – Torbor on IR, Dareus update
‘With Reggie, it’s a lot worse than we thought. Actually we put Reggie on IR today. It’s tough for him and it’s and it’s tough for us. Reggie Torbor was a strong person on our football team and we’re going to miss him but it’s just one of those things. We evaluated it the last couple of days and that’s the situation.’
Dareus and Merriman questionable for Saturday
‘”We haven’t decided yet,” said head coach Chan Gailey as to whether Merriman will play Saturday. “But as we’ve said all along our goal is to get him ready for September 11th, not this game necessarily.”‘
Bills already sending out a few bad vibes
‘And, to date, there’s not a shred of evidence that Spiller – at least on the NFL level – is a better back than the well-liked and respected Jackson, whose 2010 numbers were embarrassingly better.’
Bell ready to make last stand
‘”Consistency,” said Gailey when asked specifically about Bell’s game. “That’s the bottom line. You have to be consistent up front. You don’t have to be great or perfect, but you have to be consistent. We’ve got to make sure we get the guys that can be consistent for us up there.”‘
Dareus hurts ankle, is seen walking on crutches
‘Dareus, according to a source, injured the ankle during practice and walked off the field under his own power. It is unclear how much time Dareus will miss, if any, or if he will be available for Saturday’s third preseason game against Jacksonville at Ralph Wilson Stadium.’
Led by owner, Buffalo’s now a hockey town
‘For a team that could find a way to put a happy face on herpes, there’s a sense of dread hanging over One Bills Drive. Earlier this week, they looked more like they were getting ready to start life in prison, not the regular season.’
Spiller takes Jackson’s vent in stride
‘”Who wouldn’t want to be a No. 1 back? The big thing is that everyone is making a big deal about it,” Spiller said. “The thing about me and Fred is that we’re pushing each other to get better. … Whoever they go with, the other person has to be right there helping make sure he gets his job done.”‘
Buffalo Bill’s Jairus Byrd ready to show growth
‘”We changed defenses and it was required of me to do different things and I had to expand my game,” said Byrd, 24, who played primarily center field in his rookie year, with far less responsibility than he had last season. “Obviously the numbers didn’t come, but numbers can be deceiving. I think I learned a lot about being a complete safety and being versatile, and if I keep doing that, the numbers will come.”‘
Bills agree to 1-year deal with LB Kirk Morrison
‘Listed at 6-foot-2 and 240 pounds, Morrison is a six-year starter, who spent last year with the Jacksonville Jaguars, who elected not to re-sign him this offseason.’
Source: Bills awaiting tests on DL Dareus injury
‘The person spoke on the condition of anonymity, because the team has not released any information or confirmed Dareus was hurt.’
Buffalo Bills sign WR Ruvell Martin
‘A Saginaw Valley (Mich.) State product, Martin has also played with Green Bay and St. Louis.’
Bills add Ruvell Martin
‘Martin started nine games during his time with the Packers and had his biggest impact during his rookie season of 2006 when he caught 21 passes for 358 yards with a touchdown.’
