Edwards looking to ‘give back’ with football camp
‘”When I’m in Buffalo, I’m always focused on what I have to do next,” said Edwards. “I’ve got to get better. I’ve got to train.”‘
Buffalo Bills add Theo Young to scouting staff
‘Young will scout midwest schools, taking over the region after Matt Hand was reassigned. Young has 21 years coaching experience, including the previous three with the Bears.’
Bills add scout to personnel department
‘Young joins the Buffalo Bills staff from Baylor University where he served as the team’s defensive line coach since 2008. Young coached tight ends under current Bills General Manager Buddy Nix at Tennessee-Chattanooga in 1992. He also participated in the NFL Minority Coaching Fellowship program with the Buffalo Bills in 1996.’
Bills’ crackdown will make stadium smoke-free
‘There will be no more designated smoking areas, and any fan who leaves the stadium to smoke will not be allowed back into the stadium.’
Buffalo Bills going smoke-free at home games
‘CEO Russ Brandon says the team made the decision as part of two changes it’s making to its fan behavior policy. Previously, fans were allowed to smoke in several designated areas just inside the entry gates, but outside the stadium bowl.’
Bills announce two changes to fan behavior policy
‘In order to become more in line with the NFL’s recommendation for stadiums opening their parking lots, the Bills lots will now open four hours prior to kickoff. In previous years, the lots opened five hours prior to kickoff.’
Once lockout ends, Brian Brohm needs a team
‘”The Bills are in the picture, but I’ll be trying to talk to any team that I can talk to and see what the best situation is for me,” said Brohm, who was drafted by Green Bay in the second round in 2008. “Teams are going to have to make their decisions (on free agents) quickly,” Brohm said. “Those first couple days after the lockout could be very interesting.”‘
The forecast at offensive tackle
‘”For us at that point in time we were trying to find the best fit and at the time Cornell (Green) was the best fit,” said Bills offensive line coach Joe D’Alessandris. “Injury came about for him. Demetrius (Bell) we knew his situation coming into the season. It was rehab, rehab, rehab and no strength training in his lower body because of trying to get on the field from the injury he had the year before.”‘
NFL lockout affecting former Spider Justin Rogers
‘”It’s just one of those things you have no control over,” Rogers said regarding the current lockout. “I guess it’s just more deep than anything I understand or am a part of, but it is what it is and I can’t control it; all I can control is me, myself, and I and that’s what I’m trying to do by working out and staying in shape.”‘
2011 will be Chandler’s best shot yet
‘”He was just getting there at the end,” said Bicknell of Chandler’s handle on Buffalo’s offensive scheme. “You watch him and mental errors are the first thing you can very easily judge a player on and that was not a problem with him. He would go in with the game plan and to say that he had the basis of our offense from start to finish, obviously he didn’t, but he did have the basis of the game plan for Miami and the New York Jets. He knew what his responsibilities were and we spent extra time throughout those weeks to make sure he was ready. He did a good job.”‘
Wannstedt imparts keys to success
‘ “I’m very much in touch with what these guys are going to have to do in order to put themselves in the position to take the next step,” Wannstedt said after speaking with the players. “It’s neat to be here and contribute to a foundation that may be able to help push them in that way.”‘
Planning for Merriman
‘”Our biggest deal is to get him healthy, get him out there, see where he’s at and go from there,” Edwards said. “I think he’s got something that he wants to go out and prove that he can play at that level again and get back healthy to do it.”‘
Wannstedt catches up on NFL game
‘"You’re going to really have to make up your mind what you’re going to spend your time on," said Wannstedt, who also serves as inside linebackers coach. "That’s probably going to be the No. 1 thing. In the past, we’ve got the offseason, we can experiment with it. If we get to training camp and we don’t like it, we can get rid of it, we can juggle things around. There’s not going to be that luxury now. I think early on you’re going to probably see teams — I don’t want to say conservative — but you can only do so much if you want to do it good, and I think that’s the key."’
DeLamielleure is no fan of NFL players or owners
‘”The union is run by agents. $600 million this year will go to the first-round picks in bonuses. Last year it was like $550 million. They don’t care about anything else,” DeLamielleure said. “The agents run the league. DeMaurice Smith is just a mouthpiece for (agents) Tom Condon and Dick Bertelson, that’s all it is.”
