‘The moves were made Tuesday, two days after Urbik hurt his right knee in a 38-14 loss at Minnesota. Urbik started the game at right guard, but was hurt filling in at center after Geoff Hangartner(notes) hurt his right knee.’

‘Rinehart (6’5″, 307), who has four NFL starts in his career, was added to the Bills practice squad on Oct. 18 and has been lining up mainly at guard in the practice setting for Buffalo. Recently he’s also been getting some snaps at center, so it’s likely that he’ll be a reserve at both guard and center.’

‘He didn’t just run by Bills defenders. He ran over and through them, too.’

‘We were told last April that Spiller was a dynamic athlete, a hybrid back who could beat you in a variety of ways. We’re still waiting. He’s barely a factor in the passing game on a team using four wideouts on a regular basis.’

‘”I don’t think Antonio’s going to make it back this year … but I was told that his [injury] will not require surgery, which is good,” Gailey said.’

‘ There’s a reason the team is 2-10, with the only two wins coming against similar 2-10 dregs of the earth, Detroit and Cincinnati. The Bills showed us all those reasons in gory detail during their 38-14 dismantling at the hands of the Vikings. That was bad.’

‘”There’s always die-hard (Bills) fans that come out to signings, but now we get to meet more families struggling with special needs children, especially when we are at churches,” said Jim. “That definitely has made this a different experience (than usual sports signings). It’s good to hear from people though, because that’s the whole reason we started the foundation, to make a difference.”‘

‘”During the game you’re not thinking like, ‘Oh man, that’s Brett Favre,'” Moats remarked. “You’re just thinking ‘That’s a quarterback, my job is to sack him.’ You hit him and I hear him like ‘Ughhh’ and I’m like ‘Okay, I must have hit him real good then.'”‘

‘”It’s very difficult with Geoff. You’ve got to work new groups in there. They went through this last year, and that’s no fun to try and create continuity in a situation where there is none. You can’t do it in a short period of time. You just have to work and do the best we can to try to patch together a group to go play.”‘

‘If nothing else, the Bills have been resilient, and they have showed some heart, but Minnesota unmasked Buffalo as a team that needs a major infusion of talented personnel.’

‘Chan Gailey said he didn’t have his team ready to play against a good team in a tough environment. He was right because the Bills looked severely overmatched and incapable of functioning in a tough place to play. On offense, there wasn’t much Gailey could do with the offensive line injuries that were incurred. On defense, the Bills had no answer for the Vikings running game. They were lit up, which is nothing new this season. George Edwards just hasn’t been able to get anything together whether the defense is in a 3-4 or a 4-3 alignment.’

‘Losing center Geoff Hangartner is a big blow to the offensive line. He was the lone veteran on the line, not to mention a traffic cop in terms of setting the protections and making some of the line calls (quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick does a lot of that for the Bills as well). Kraig Urbik was Hangartner’s backup, and he also went out with a knee injury late in the game, so LG Andy Levitre played center for the first time in his career. Hangartner hopes he can come back, but his chances seem slim.’

‘Moats said on Monday he wasn’t intending to hurt Favre, and didn’t realize how badly the quarterback was injured until he had trouble getting up.’

‘The Bills addressed yet another hole at linebacker Monday when they were awarded linebacker Pierre Woods off waivers. The five-year veteran was waived just last Friday by the New England Patriots.’

‘”We won’t have them this week at all for sure,” said Gailey. “Probably a couple of weeks on both of them, but we’ve got a chance to have both of them maybe for the last couple of games. We’re not sure. We’re going to wait until Tuesday or the next day to really see.”‘
