‘Williams made nine total tackles, including six solo tackles, along with two sacks. Williams came into today’s game ranked ninth among defensive lineman in the NFL in total tackles and continued to play at a high level.’

‘There aren’t a whole lot of teams the Chiefs could have beaten on this perfect Midwest autumn day, and they were fortunate that the luckless and still winless Bills happened to be in town providing the opposition.’

‘Can Ryan Fitzpatrick stay on his hot streak? He played OK, but not nearly good enough to win the game. He threw a TD pass for the eighth game in a row, the longest streak of his career, but he also threw a killer pick late in regulation that cost the Bills a chance to win.’

‘Ryan Fitzpatrick had the kind of day you would expect a decent NFL backup to have. He gave the Bills a chance to win by throwing for 223 yards and a TD, but he also made enough mistakes to remind you that all he is is a decent NFL backup.’

‘”It seems like almost every week, it’s like, man if we could have made just one play,” said guard Eric Wood. “If we could have made this play or that play, we’d have won that game.”‘

‘”That’s kind of the way it goes,” said Lindell, who is 18 of 32 from 50-plus yards in his career with a long of 56. “On average, you only get a couple of times where it’s on you, so you have to take advantage of it. It’s nice when they do go through and when they don’t, it’s tough to deal with.”‘

‘ Maybe the Bills deserve better. But they are a bad team, and bad teams have a knack for finding ways to lose. One week they score 34 and lose. The next week, they hold a team to 13 points. The Chiefs called timeout just before Rian Lindell makes a 53-yard field goal in OT. He hits the upright on the next try.’

‘”We knew coming in here that they were going to run the football,” said Bills inside linebacker Paul Posluszny, who finished with a career-high 18 tackles. “We knew it was going to be a challenge, but to give up 270 is not going to cut it.”‘

‘Under Trent Edwards the first two games of the season, the Bills converted just 7 of 26 third downs (26.9 percent). That’s worst-in-the-NFL territory. In the five games Fitzpatrick has started at quarterback, the Bills are converting 42.2 percent (30 of 71).’

‘Good offensive adjustments after halftime. Gailey should have run to get closer for Lindell. Defense better but Edwards must find way to stop run.’

‘”You can vote as many times as you want to,” Thomas said in a recent phone conversation while chuckling at the idea of fans voting early and often. “It really shows how passionate Bills fans are. You look at the top six guys — [five of them] played in four Super Bowls. It’s interesting to see.”‘

‘Fitzpatrick, to steal Dennis Green’s most famous line, is who we thought he was. He’s exactly who you thought he was, too, if you cared to look at it critically, and he clearly isn’t a first-string National Football League quarterback. He’s a dynamic backup, a guy who could easily hold the fort down for a few games if a frontline starter was sidelined. He makes exciting plays, but he makes awful throws, too, like the one picked off by Eric Berry.’
