‘But before I get in to the positive analysis, I have a major bone to pick with the Bills. HOW THE HECK DO YOU LET PAUL POSLUSZNY COVER CALVIN JOHNSON WITH THE GAME ON THE LINE?! And to make matters worse, this was coming straight out of a time out! How do you let that happen after talking about the game plan? The Bills deserved to have the game tied on the two point conversion, but the defense held strong and gave Shaun Hill no options on the try. But I was exasperated after that defensive strategy because they played a pretty solid game throughout.’

The Bills finally made enough plays
‘One thing the Bills can pull out of the last four weeks against Kansas City, Baltimore, Chicago and Detroit is if they had any killer instinct at all, they would’ve won all four games and be sitting at 4-5. The Bills had numerous chances to put this game away. Ryan Fitzpatrick missed a wide open Lee Evans for six, he missed Stevie Johnson for six, the Bills were driving near mid field and Jackson fumbled it away. Those are the plays that when they start being made, this team will start winning more.’
Maybin Inactive Again
‘One Bill made NFL history Sunday. Fifth round pick Ed Wang was active for the first time this year which made him the first full-blooded Chinese player to be active for an NFL game. Both of his parents were born in China and competed in track and field at the 1984 Olympics in Los Angeles.’
Immediate Reactions: Bills 14, Lions 12
‘It was grey, blacked-out and wonderfully just enough. The Buffalo Bills will not be a miserable 0-16 thanks to the Detroit Lions (Get ready for the national media jokes, by the way). When one win makes a difference, it’s generally the one that got you into the playoffs, but nay, no sir, not this year.’
Bills Follow Winning Formula – Finally
‘To uninterested NFL observers, and there are plenty of them when it comes to the outcome of the Bills-Lions game, this was a very big win for the Bills organization. Yes, if they start winning now it might blow their shot at that #1 pick – likely the franchise qb they really need – but the younger players need to have some success to achieve future success.’
Bills outlast Lions
‘Nursing an eight-point lead (14-6) with 3:45 remaining, Buffalo had 88 yards of field to defend. Detroit converted three fourth downs the third of which went for a 20-yard touchdown pass from Shaun Hill to Calvin Johnson with 14 seconds left pulled Detroit to within two, but Hill could find no one open on the two point conversion attempt allowing Buffalo to escape with a 14-12 win, their first of the season.’
Bills Hold On For First Win 14-12
‘The Bills had six possessions in the first half and three ended with nothing to show for it in Lions territory. They punted once, turned it over on downs once, and fumbled it away once.’
Defense Solid In First Win
‘Chan Gailey had an offensive gameplan that involved Spiller a lot but couldn’t use it when he got hurt. He did a nice job of sticking to the run.’
