‘Outside linebacker Reggie Torbor (chest) and backup linebacker Antonio Coleman (hamstring) were inactive for the Bills.’

Miami 15, Buffalo 10
‘Trent Edwards threw for 139 yards on 18-of-34 passing with a fourth-quarter touchdown for Buffalo (0-1), which suffered its fifth straight losing season in 2009 with a 6-10 mark and hired Chan Gailey as its new head coach this offseason.’
Reaction: Dolphins 15 – Bills 10
‘I liked a lot of the play calls by Chan Gailey in this football game. However, the execution by his players left an incredible amount to be desired. There were some well timed delayed handoffs and looks over the middle, but without giving Trent Edwards some time in the pocket, all those efforts were thwarted.’
Dolphins Down Bills 15-10 in Opener
‘Buffalo had a tough team initiating the run game, as C.J. Spiller ran seven times for 6-yards, and Fred Jackson rushed four times for 19-yards.’
At least one side of the ball adjusted for a change
‘The defense was a totally different story. The last four seasons, Perry Fewell would put together some very good game plans that by the third or fourth quarter were figured out and then the Bills were dead because Fewell and Dick Jauron had no idea how to adjust.’
Immediate Reactions: Dolphins 15, Bills 10
‘Gailey’s offense had a 4th-and-10 with 1:32 to go in the game from his own 1-yard line. It was an unenviable scenario caused by inept quarterbacking and line play, but choosing to snap a ball through the end zone for a safety was ludicrous. Seriously, what’s more likely: A 10-yard completion or a recovering an onside punt (if that’s even in the rule book, which I’m trusting it is)? The Bills traded two points, four minutes and the ability to tie the game with a field goal for 20 yards. It’s a genuinely numb-skulled decision, and it took most of the Gailey sails out of my wind.’
New Coach: Same Edwards and Offense
‘But Edwards again looked confused, and reluctant to throw the ball downfield, and unable to take advantage of great field position given him and the offense by the defense in the second half.’
New Chapter – Same Old Story
‘The harsh reality Sunday began with the fact the Bills couldn’t run the football. They managed just 50-yards rushing in the game. The highly anticipated debut of rookie C.J. Spiller ended with just seven carries for six-yards. He also caught four passes for eight yards. The Dolphins overpowered the Bills shaky offensive line and forced Trent Edwards to try to beat them through the air. I’ll grant you the pass protection left a great deal to be desired. Right Tackle Cornell Green looked like a revolving door. But Edwards was still ever so hesitant in far too many situations and failed to get the ball downfield.’
Here’s What I Saw: Bills/Dolphins
‘It wasn’t all Trent’s fault. Now, a lot of it was. He held the ball too long. Literally hit two different Dolphin defenders right in the chest with his passes. Reprised the role of Captain Checkdown. I can’t blame him for all of it though, because he didn’t have much help from his buddies up front. Demetrius Bell couldn’t block Snooki from Jersey Shore today. Cornell Green wasn’t much better. Trent gets a lot of the blame, but not all of it. Can’t throw from your back.’
Bills Lose To Miami 15-10
‘The offense struggled mightily as the Dolphins knocked off the Bills on opening day 15-10 at Ralph Wilson Stadium. Miami built a 13-3 lead before Trent Edwards hit Roscoe Parrish for a 31 yard touchdown pass on a fourth and 10 play to pull the Bills close. They got stuffed inside the one late in the game and took a safety. They got the ball back with seconds remainning but it couldn’t do enough to pull out the win. Edwards finished 18 of 34 for 139 yards and the score in the loss.’
Offense Pathetic In 15-10 Loss To Dolphins
‘Quarterback: Trent Edwards was awful in this game except on his one touchdown scoring drive. He finished just 18 of 34 for 139 yards. Grade F: Looked like the same old Edwards.’
