‘”Unfortunately Kawika had a lot worse of a problem than we had anticipated,” head coach Chan Gailey said. “It was going to be quite a few weeks, and we just couldn’t wait.”‘

Bills Place Mitchell on IR; Sign Ayodele
‘Now, there is little doubt left, Mitchell is done for the season.’
Short on BILL-ievers
‘The Bills finish 5-11, and will pick 6th in the upcoming NFL Draft. Short on Billievers and low on expectations, let’s just hope we can all have some fun.’
Bills place Mitchell on IR, sign Ayodele
‘Mitchell was hurt in practice on Wednesday. He missed the final 11 games of last season with a torn quadriceps muscle.’
Gameday Tipsheet – Week 1
Bills sign LB Ayodele; Mitchell to I-R
‘Ayodele is entering his ninth season in the NFL and joins the Bills after being released by Denver on August 24. The 6-2, 255-pound linebacker is very familiar with Bills defensive coordinator George Edwards as he started 15-of-16 games with Miami last season, and ranked third on the Dolphins with 70 tackles (60 solo). Edwards was Miami’s linebackers coach (2005-2009) prior to joining Buffalo’s staff.’
Buffalo Bills’ secondary setting the bar high
‘”We definitely have high standards,” strong safety Bryan Scott said. “But it’s not pressure. If anything, I’d say it’s excitement. Our motto’s been, ‘Let’s prove it.'”‘
Buffalo Bills testing FanVision device
‘The Bills are among 12 NFL teams that have signed on for a new service called FanVision; a hand-held device with a video screen that provides enhanced viewing of live sporting events.’
Henne given reins to Dolphins’ future
‘"The reason we drafted him and drafted him where we drafted him is that we felt like at some point this guy would be the quarterback of our team and the future of our team," Dolphins coach Tony Sparano said.’
New coordinators on each side makes for a lot of guesswork
‘The Bills have studied the Broncos’ game film to gain some insight on what Nolan likes to do. "We look at Denver quite a bit," Gailey said. "We look at [the Dolphins’] preseason and try to meld the two thought processes together, and it’s not easy to be honest with you. They were very vanilla in the preseason. They did not show a lot of stuff and so we have to look back at last year’s Denver stuff to get an idea of where some things might be and some things we might have to prepare for offensively."’
Bills had few options at tackle
‘The Bills probably could have acquired New Orleans’ Jammal Brown for a third-round pick. He went to Washington for a third- or fourth-rounder and is starting at RT. He can play LT. Baltimore RT Jared Gaither was on the trade block but has been out since Aug. 5 with a thoracic disk injury in his back. Dallas acquired RT Alex Barron via trade. He’s a backup but will start the opener. Cleveland signed journeyman Tony Pashos. He’s strictly at RT and is a backup. Pittsburgh signed RT Flozell Adams. He’s starting but he definitely can’t play LT any more. Journeyman Adam Terry was signed by Indy, released and picked up by San Diego. He has chronic knee issues. Ex-Bill Mike Gandy still is out there. That’s about it.’
