‘Bills coach Chan Gailey coached Foschi at Georgia Tech.’

Bills sign TE Foschi
‘Foschi (6’4″ 265) set career highs in receptions last season with 27 for 260 yards and a pair of touchdowns for the Bengals. His receiving ability is considered by most to be his best asset, though he is also known as a capable blocker.’
Practice under lights fires up Buffalo Bills
‘With the injuries at tight end, Gailey said the team was forced to alter some offensive looks. "Well, it’s just like losing the two running backs (Fred Jackson and Marshawn Lynch)," Gailey said. "When you lose those two guys, it kind of sets you back a little bit to the direction you’d like to go and the progress you’d like to make. It’s the same thing with tight end. We’ve got one healthy tight end on the field. It makes it very difficult, but that’s part of it. You deal with it and go on."’
Buffalo Bills can shock the skeptics
‘The 2010 Bills wouldn’t surprise their critics and skeptics by reaching the postseason. They’d shock them.’
New position, new focus
‘Maybin has eight tackles and a sack this preseason. He appears to have found a home as an edge-rushing linebacker.’
Easley, Batten place on injured reserve
‘Both players were hurt in the same practice Aug. 2. Easley, a fourth-round pick out of Connecticut who was considered very likely to make the regular season roster, sustained a knee injury that required surgery. Batten, a sixth-round selection from North Dakota State, hurt his shoulder and was originally projected to miss two to six weeks.’
Bills’ DBs out to put T.O. on ice
‘"That’s for the whole secondary, not just me," Florence said after practice Sunday morning. "For this week, address us by Mr. Freeze. We’re just going to go out and try to shut them down."’
The billboard: Daily dose from Bills’ training camp
‘The Bills are down to just one healthy tight end after Michael Matthews appeared to twist his left ankle during a 1-on-1 passing drill. Gailey didn’t know the extent of the injury, but said Matthews was going to have more tests this morning.’
Bills place rookies WR Easley and LB Batten on IR
‘The moves do allow the Bills to free up room on their roster to add players, particularly at tight end.’
Bills place Easley and Batten on IR
‘"Obviously it’s not what we wanted, but it’s just something that had to be done looking at the long term prognosis for both of them," Bills head coach Chan Gailey said.’
Practice Notes – Day 17
‘”We’re in training camp,” he said. “Our focus is on getting better at the fundamentals and all of the techniques that go with that. We’re not game-planning, we’re back to basics. That’s what I told them Saturday when we got back in here. It’s back to basics until Tuesday when we break camp. After that, it starts toward game-plan and getting ready for the season.”‘
Season over for Batten and Easley
‘"They were both going to miss a significant part of (the season)," said Gailey. "We just couldn’t see time-wise that it was going to benefit them to try to make it back this year."’
Inside slant
‘Schouman will miss 3-6 weeks, Gailey said. Last year, Schouman missed 14 games after ACL surgery. “The guy can’t get a break. He can’t stay on the field and he’s not getting enough reps,” Gailey said.’
Strategy and personnel
‘Torbor, who was No. 1 on the depth chart at weak outside linebacker ahead of Aaron Maybin, Buffalo’s 2009 first-round pick, will miss at least three weeks, coach Chan Gailey said. That makes his status for the regular season opener Sept. 12 against Miami questionable. While the door is open for Maybin, Torbor’s experience in the 3-4 scheme and his muscle — he’s a legitimate 250 pounds while Maybin is not — will be welcomed upon his return.’
Notes, quotes
‘If he continues to progress and suffers no setbacks during the week, Lynch could be in the lineup against the Bengals, something the troubled star would surely welcome, particularly after the sensational performance by rookie first-round pick C.J. Spiller against the Colts.’
