‘If tackle Cornell Green plays, Spiller could be running behind the entire starting offensive line. Thursday’s game would be the first time the five projected lineman would be in together in live action.’

Bills hope to make big strides tonight against Colts
Gailey looking for Buffalo Bills to grow tonight
‘”Every day we evaluate everybody,” Gailey said. “That’s the way it has to be. You can’t let anybody sit there and say to themselves that it’s locked up. And I can’t say that to myself, either. That’s not fair. If I say that to myself, I should tell them.”‘
Brohm must stay on target in Bills QB bid
‘”I feel like I’m ready,” Brohm said. “I feel like we’ve had OTAs, we’ve had mini-camps, we’ve gone all through training camp. I feel good about the offense. I feel comfortable about where I’m at. I just need to put it all together in a game atmosphere.”‘
Byrd out indefinitely due to groin injury
‘It’s the same injury that Byrd had last year. He had surgery at the start of last year’s training camp, and after playing most of the season had to have another procedure on it. Byrd missed the last two games of last season. Byrd has practiced throughout training camp but the condition apparently grew worse after Monday night’s session. Byrd was not at practice Tuesday.’
Gotta hand it to Spiller
‘”Of course, you want to go out and prove everyone wrong,” Spiller said on Wednesday. “But that’s not my mindset. I’ve done all that in college. I proved that I can carry the ball my last year in college and still be durable throughout the game. Everybody wants to talk about this being the NFL but, at the end of the day, it’s still football. This is my time to step up and try to get through the pre-season and get comfortable in the NFL.”‘
Corporate fumble by Rogers, Bills
‘The Bills wanted to call the series of National Football League games: Bills In Toronto, thus emphasizing the Buffalo team engaging in a new market. The Rogers people wanted the name NFL in Toronto, thus emphasizing the league – not the team.’
Byrd dogged by bad groin
‘”It was residual from the off-season stuff. We’re hoping first game, but it may be not.”‘
Bills-Colts short on stars, long on fun
‘The series has lost much of its early lustre and pizzazz as interest and ticket prices have tumbled. Plenty of tickets are still available for Thursday’s game. On the Rogers Centre site, the price range for Bills-Colts ducats ranges from $75.75 to $275, while on StubHub, they show availability from $25 to $95. By the way, at the Rogers site you can also pick up tickets for U2, Inter Milan or the Dalai Lama.’
Bills’ QB fights for his future
‘”I need to grow and continue to compete out there. Chan [Gailey] wants to see a guy taking control of the quarterback position, being assertive and being yourself out there and enjoying the position. So, I’ve got to make sure I’m competing and that’s something that I enjoy doing. Come week one, hopefully I’m the starter.”‘
Bills’ injuries push Spiller into spotlight
‘”It’s like the day before Christmas,” Spiller said. “You want to go open the presents, see what you’ve got under the tree. That’s how I’m going to approach it. It’s an exciting time to make my first NFL start. I didn’t expect it to come this fast.”‘
Bills safety Byrd out indefinitely with groin injury
‘The 23-year-old underwent procedures for the groin issue as well as for a sports hernia in the off-season.’
Bills’ series in Toronto not a hit north of border
‘A combination of high ticket prices, the economic downturn and the Bills’ losing record have contributed to a lack of interest initially anticipated by series founder, the late Ted Rogers, who died in December 2008, days before the first regular season game of the series was played.’
Bills FS Byrd out indefinitely with groin injury
‘”It looks like he’s going to be out for a while,” Gailey said. “We’re hoping first game, but it may be not.”‘
For Bills, nowhere to go but up
‘”The fans are expecting something with the new everything here,” cornerback Terrence McGee said following Tuesday’s practice at St. John Fisher College. “We’ve got to make some plays.”‘
