‘"The interns are given a lot of freedom, and the staff looks for input from us," said Newton, whose pre-treating duties include electric stimulation treatments, taping and working with players to find comfortable braces.’

LB Harris waived; Bills add a LB
‘Woods (6’2″ 230) has been mainly an inside linebacker that has spent the past two seasons primarily with the Pittsburgh Steelers where he appeared in six games, mostly on special teams. He was released by the Steelers on Nov. 22nd last year and was quickly signed by the Dallas Cowboys to their practice squad where he spent the rest of the 2009 season.’
Practice Notes – Day 2
‘”Everybody got all fired up. It made practice a little more fun,” said Hangartner. “Stuff like that happens, no hard feelings, none of it carries over it just kind of happens. It’ll happen again before the camp is over with. It may not be me and him, but it’ll be somebody else and it will happen again.”‘
Bills sign LB Woods, waive LB Harris
‘Harris, Buffalo’s fifth-round draft pick in 2009, appeared in 15 games last season. He opened training camp on the reserve-physically unable to perform list due to an undisclosed injury. The Bills placed him on the waived-failed physical list.’
Maybin cheap shot fires up Bills O-line
‘"Give back some of that money you ain’t [expletive] earned!" Wood screamed at the defensive huddle.’
Bills C Hangartner, LB Maybin scuffle at practice
‘As Jackson yelled out, “C’mon, man,” Hangartner ran over and straight-armed Maybin across the helmet. The two then exchanged several shoves and Maybin got in a punch on Hangartner as they tangled on the ground before being separated by teammates.’
A fresh start…with less buzz
‘Wide receivers used brooms locked behind their backs and pinned in-between their forearms to restrict their hands while fighting around cornerbacks.’
Trent is center of attention
‘"Well, he just made a lot more plays that we thought were positive plays during the course of the minicamps and OTAs," Gailey said. "He did a good job of handling the team. He did a good job when he had the threes, as well as when he had the ones. And that was impressive to me, to be able to go out there and work with whoever he was throwing with."’
Bills’ camp is off to quiet start
‘Terrell Owens is gone, and apparently, so is the buzz. Last year, there were constant cheers whenever Owens tied his shoe laces. On Thursday, a long completion or defensive play barely drew a reaction from the onlookers.’
The billboard: A daily dose from training camp
‘The Bills practiced in full pads, a stark departure from the Dick Jauron era, in which they went at least two practice days without pads before breaking out the hits.’
Trent Edwards starts as No. 1 QB for Buffalo Bills
‘"After evaluating all the OTA and mini-camp things, we just felt that Trent deserved to start training camp with the first group," Gailey said after the Bills opened their 11th training camp at St. John Fisher College in front of a small crowd that baked under a bright afternoon sun.’
Buffalo Bills linemen Demetrius Bell, Eric Wood take practice field
‘"I think a lot of people were (thinking that)," Wood said. "People thought I’d be out a lot longer, but over the past few months it has really come along quickly. Now it’s just about getting better and getting back to where I was last year and beyond that."’
Buffalo Bills fans optimistic on opening day of camp
‘"It is nice to see expected leaders like Leodis McKelvin drop to his knees and bang out some push-ups right along with lesser-known players like Lydell Sargeant," said Viavattine, a 28-year-old Rochester resident. "There may be a lot of questions regarding the overall talent of this team and how many wins they can put together, but it looks like they are going to work hard and you have to be encouraged by that."’
Healthy linemen joining fray for Bills
‘Wood was a limited participant at the team’s final minicamp in May. On Thursday, it was left tackle Demetrius Bell, less than eight months removed from surgery to repair a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his knee, who dressed for practice but sat out the full-team drills. “I feel pretty good,” Bell said. “I don’t think I’m far off, but still, I have a ways to get back totally.”‘
So it begins: Bills kick off training camp
‘”I told the players, I thought we were a little sluggish out there,” Gailey said. “It was the first day with pads on, first practice, they’re trying to get back into it carrying pads and that’s not an easy thing all the time. But I thought the mental retention that we had during the course of practice was very good.”‘
