‘Edwards has spent the majority of his coaching career in the NFL, as he was linebackers coach for Dallas from 1998-2001. After one year as linebackers coach with the Washington Redskins, he was named defensive coordinator in 2003, then spent the 2004 campaign with the Cleveland Browns before moving on to Miami.’

‘He spent the past five years as a linebackers coach with the Dolphins.’

‘”We are very excited that George Edwards has joined our staff as defensive coordinator,” said head coach Chan Gailey. “He brings a wealth of experience, not only as a motivator and communicator, but he has been involved with some great schemes and we are excited about him being the head of our defense.”‘

I think as coaches they’re thinking it’s the best thing that could happen. They’re doing really well and they’re part of a great organization and they have great players. ‘Steelers pro scouting coordinator Doug Whaley has accepted a job as the assistant general manager for the Buffalo Bills.’

‘Whaley was responsible for scouting Steelers opponents and evaluating pro players. Before joining the Steelers, he was an area scout with the Seattle Seahawks.’
