‘Unfortunately, Jackson’s accomplishments have been tarnished by his team’s inability to get him into an important game. In last year’s purposeless finale against New England, Jackson rolled off 136 yards on 27 carries. It was the only time he got more than a dozen rushes all season.’

Harris picks his spot in the secondary
‘Harris, a sixth-round draft pick, had spent most of his rookie season on the practice squad. He started at safety on Sunday with Donte Whitner, Bryan Scott and Byrd all injured. Prior to this week, Harris had been getting reps at cornerback.’

Bills snow-blow Colts to win finale, 30-7
‘Despite near whiteout conditions in the first half, Ryan Fitzpatrick threw three touchdown passes-including a 41-yarder to Owens-in leading the Bills to a 30-7 victory over the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday. Fred Jackson had 212 yards rushing, the seventh-highest rushing total in team history, to reach 1,000 yards for the first time in his career, and also scored on an 11-yard catch.’
Bills WR Owens passes Brown in yards receiving
‘Owens passed Brown with a 6-yard catch 6 minutes into the fourth quarter of Buffalo’s season finale against Indianapolis on Sunday. With three catches for 50 yards, Owens hit 14,936 career yards receiving, 2 more than Brown had during his 17-year career that ended in 2004.’
Manning hits 4,500 yards passing before sitting
‘In making his 192nd straight start, Manning went 14 of 18 for 95 yards and an interception before taking a seat on a heated bench on the sideline against the Bills on Sunday. He was replaced by rookie Curtis Painter with 9:13 left in the second quarter and the game tied at 7.’
Colts TE Clark reaches 100 catches
‘Clark hit the milestone losing 7 yards on screen pass on the Colts third possession in the first minute of the second quarter against the Buffalo Bills. He has seven catches for 52 yards, and had five catches for 53 yards on the Colts second possession.’
Goodell says NFL will look at Colts case
‘Commissioner Roger Goodell says the NFL competition committee will review league policy regarding late-season games where teams might be tempted to rest their starters for the playoffs.’
Buffalo 30, Indianapolis 7
‘Fitzpatrick finished the game 16-for-25 with 155 yards and tossed scores to Terrell Owens, Lee Evans and Fred Jackson for the Bills (6-10), who snapped a two-game losing streak to close out the season on a winning note.’
Bills Rout Colts 30-7 in Season Finale
‘Jackson has racked up over 200 yards on the ground, becoming the first Bills running back to reach that mark in one game since Thurman Thomas did it against the Jets in 1990.’
Immediate Reactions, Wk17
‘For all the heat we deservedly give the Bills front office, how about a high-five for signing Fred Jackson to a four-year, $7.5 million extension this offseason. Maybe only a half high-five because there were rumours Fred would hold-out, but that’s not a lot of cheddar for a guy who’s looking like the Big Cheese.’
Bills Need Coach and QB, but Not RB
‘I don’t know who the coach will be, although we should find out fairly quickly, but I do know this: Fred Jackson’s place on this team is about as secure as an NHL dentist’s job. The numbers are impressive, especially considering it took awhile for ANY Bills coach to realize Jackson is #1 and Marshawn Lynch a distant #2, but Lynch went over 1,000 yards rushing and in kick return yards, which is an NFL first. It’s never happened before.’
Jackson and Bills roll over Colts
‘Jackson’s big rushing day pushed him up and over 1,000 rushing yards for the season, as he had the first individual 200-yard rushing day since Thurman Thomas had 214 against the Jets in 1990. The Bills feature back finished the season with a career-high 1,057 yards.’
Fewell to interview early this week
‘”I think it says a lot about them and their character,” said Fewell of his players. “They could’ve given up a long time ago and they never did. “I’ve coached seven games with them. We fought and had a chance to win each ball game except the Atlanta game, but they kept fighting until the very end and I think that says a lot about them. They wanted to go out and win a football game. They wanted to have one win to feel good and it does. It feels good to win.”‘
Bills Beat Colts 30-7
‘It looked like old times as the Bills definitely looked more comfortable playing in blizzard like conditions than the opponent from a dome stadium. I know it was the Colts backups but they wanted no part of this game.’
