Posluszny is a solid player, but he just doesn’t have enough help against the run, and he’s not helped by a defensive line that isn’t exactly stout in one-on-one matchups with big offensive linemen.’

‘For the second time this season the Bills had no answers for the Jets’ potent run game. The Jets did nothing different, they just pounded the rock and the Bills couldn’t stop them. On offense, there needed to be a way to get Evans more involved because it was clear very early that Darrelle Revis was going to lock down Terrell Owens. And where were the tight ends in the game plan. To win division games you often have to out-coach the opponent, and the Bills didn’t do that.’

‘For the 10th time in 12 games the Bills’ offense had the ball less than their opponent, and for the sixth time the difference in time of possession was more than 10 minutes. The primary problem has been Buffalo’s inefficiency on third down. The Bills entered the game ranked 31st in third-down success rate, and they are in danger of dropping to last in the league after converting just 1 of 11 against New York.’

‘”It’s a bad time to have lost a lot of games in the fourth quarter because the division’s right there,” Williams said. “I think above all else, that’s what really kind of sticks in your craw. To know that everything was so close, and the way things are shaking out in the division that, other than our own stupidity, we could’ve been there.”‘

‘Mace appeared in two games for the Bills this season, and had an interception in a 31-14 win over Miami two weeks ago.’

‘The Buffalo Bills announced that the team has signed TE Joe Klopfenstein to the 53-man roster. In accordance with team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.’

‘”I think he’s done the best job he could ever do in light of the situation he’s been in,” said Bell, who is still out with a knee injury. “He had to start out with almost all rookies, and right off the bat we were in a position to win a big game in the opener. We’ve had our mistakes, and then we had injuries. I think he’s done the best job he could possibly do.”‘

‘”I thought the offensive line executed well and Marshawn hit the hole,” interim head coach Perry Fewell said. “When he saw the hole he hit the crease and the explosion was good by Marshawn. ‘The main reason I’m touting Mike Martz for the head coach of the Buffalo Bills is his reputation as an offensive genius. Buffalo has the makings for a decent defense, but the offense needs a complete overhaul in terms of philosophy. The Bills need to attack instead of playing conservatively and hoping not to make mistakes.’

‘Buffalo allows 172.1 yards per game on the ground, 11 more than anyone else in the league heading into Sunday’s games. The total ties the winless 2008 Detroit Lions for the second-worst average since 1988. Only the 2006 Indianapolis Colts yielded more yards per game (173.0) over the past two decades.’

‘There is no doubt the Bills can build a home-field advantage in Toronto, based on what we saw versus the Jets.’

‘December football in Western New York is when the Bills have the advantage as southern teams aren’t used to the frigid weather. And though Bills fans are enjoying unusually warm weather, a game inside a dome posed problems no one expects during a “home” Bills game. “It was more humid and hot than we anticipated today and so we had several guys going in and out because of the humidity,” Fewell said.’

‘The scenario is supposed to be, when Bills’ owner Ralph Wilson dies, Toronto makes a successful bid to buy the franchise and moves it to Canada. But after two regular-season contests into the eight-game deal – including three exhibitions – you have to wonder.’

‘So I’m developing some things we actually know about the Bills, but I need the help of everyone. I’m going to put down some simple facts about what the Bills have and need, and you tell me what to change. My hope would be that by the offseason, we can feel pretty confident about what we want the new guy in charge to do.’
