‘”When you play a team like New England that has dominated us over the last 12 or 13 ballgames, you can’t make those types of mistakes and expect to win,” said Bills coach Perry Fewell. “When we do that, we kill ourselves. It’s tough to beat a good football team like New England, but when you kill yourself with those kinds of mistakes then you lessen the chance of your probability to win.”‘

Bills-Patriots report card
‘Didn’t do enough with running game after Pats made halftime adjustments. Putting rookie Ramsey in cold on third-and-goal blew up in their faces. Grade: C.’
Quarterly report
‘The Bills have the worst division record in the AFC East since 2001, at 19-37.’
Bills wear stare of humility
‘Owens said it best when he spoke sincerely after Sunday’s humiliating loss. Humiliating mostly because the Patriots didn’t play well, yet never really had to worry about the outcome. “I think it’s just going to take some changes,” Owens said when asked what it will take for the Bills to beat the Patriots in a rivalry he’ll never have to worry about after two more weeks. Something has to be done, and again, those are not my decisions to make. I’m just trying to live up to my end of the bargain.”‘
Edwards makes a cameo
‘Fewell had hoped inserting Edwards would be able to spark the offense. “We were not converting on the third downs,” Fewell said. “We needed something to give us some momentum so I made the decision.”‘
Failure to lead
‘”The first drive was the game plan, and then the next few series that we had, we got ourselves into some trouble,” Fitzpatrick said. “When you’re going to play a game like that where you want to wear your opponent out, you have to play mistake free football.”‘
Bills can’t keep up
‘”They’re a good team and we can’t do what we did today with all the penalties and the mistakes that we had to help them,” said Fred Jackson, Buffalo running back. “We have to take advantage of every opportunity we have to beat them.”‘
Bills should take long look at Incognito
‘Incognito’s contract is up at the end of the year. He will become a free agent this offseason and I don’t see why Buffalo wouldn’t give him a serious look. This could be a big pick up for a team which has a poor offensive line.’
In the end, crumpled Bills
‘”Very sick of the losses to the Patriots,” Whitner said. “They have a little swagger about themselves. They know they’ve beaten us so many times and it would just be good to go out there and beat them and stop that streak and take some of those smiles off their faces.”’

Fewell Deserves a Chance — Somewhere Else
‘I love his enthusiasm and the fact he isn’t afraid to make changes on the fly, and I also appreciate his outspoken manner. I get the feeling the players may not always like what he says or how he says it, but they respect his honesty and don’t have to guess what he means by reading between the lines. Fewell is now 2-3 as the “head coach”, and could easily be 4-1 or even 5-0 with ANY kind of offensive line and a halfway decent quarterback.’
Offensive Ineptness Keeps Bills Down
‘Perry Fewell looked like Dick Jauron in this game.’
Immediate Reactions, Wk15
‘Right when I was convincing Alex Van Pelt wasn’t to blame all that much for the Bills woes, he spends another week ignoring the fact that his running backs were gashing the opposition. I feel like Fred Jackson’s stat line sat at 11 carries for 73 yards for almost a full quarter.’
Patriots Win Ugly Battle 17-10
‘It was the type of low scoring, ugly, boring game I expected to see. Unfortunately, the outcome was exactly what I expected as well another Bills loss. What was disheartning about it was that the Bills seemed to take many steps back with more penalties, sacks, poor execution, and lack of passion. They were never really in the game in the second half despite winning the battle in the stat game. This does drive the point even further that they do need a full house cleaning on January 4th.’
New England 17, Buffalo 10
‘Trent Edwards took over for Buffalo early in the fourth quarter, but his relief stint was a brief one, lasting only four plays. To make matters worse, the former starting quarterback appeared to sustain an ankle injury while being wrapped up by Patriots linebacker Tully Banta-Cain.’
