‘The Bills promoted offensive lineman Andre Ramsey from their practice squad Friday to replace Bell.’

‘Bell, who suffered the injury in Week 10 at Tennessee, had hoped to be back in the lineup before the season was over, but early this week it became evident that wasn’t going to happen.’

‘If you’re a player for the Bills you know you’re not going to the playoffs, but you have to continue to play for pride. You don’t look forward to next year and where the team might pick in the draft. In some cases you play for the team’s success if you have time left on your contract, or if you’re a free agent you play for your future knowing other teams might be looking at your game tape to see if they want you on their team. It doesn’t matter what sport it is, you play to win games period.’

‘"We’re a young group and Bobby keeps teaching and toward the end of the year we keep peaking," said Corto. "Last year we had a lot more big plays and we didn’t have as many against us. But we’ve done some good things and we’re getting on track."’

‘"I’ve been catching the ball and guys have been right there, so I have to make smart decisions and fair catch and try to put the offense in a good position," he said. "Hopefully, that big one is coming."’

‘"When we lost him, I was lost," said Fewell, who also doubles as the team’s defensive coordinator. "Paul runs our defense, he gets us in every call. I can run a sophisticated game plan with Paul. He is a football junkie. He eats it, he breathes it, he sleeps it."’

‘Tolbert played at LSU as a wide receiver from 1988-90. He’s had several different coaching stints on the college level, including Louisiana-Monroe, Ohio University, Auburn, Louisiana-Lafayette and Florida.’

‘ The coaching, front office and ownership all share the blame. The Bills have been trying to replace Keith Ellison, an outstanding overachiever, for three years. The problem this offseason was there were no ideal options in free agency.’
