‘The Bills activated Cary Harris off the practice squad Friday to be the fourth cornerback. Harris was activated because linebacker Keith Ellison was placed on injured reserve due to a quadriceps injury. Also listed as questionable were Kyle Williams (knee), Jairus Byrd (groin) and James Hardy (groin). All practiced to some degree Friday. Williams and Byrd seem like they have a decent chance to play. Also listed as out is Demetrius Bell (knee).’

Buffalo Bills go to work on their ground game
‘Buffalo has exhibited many flaws this season, and the inability to consistently move the ball on the ground ranks near the top of the list.’

Bills Targeted Jon Gruden
‘Those sources say the team “went after him hard,” including a face-to-face meeting, but could not convince Gruden to leave his job as analyst on ESPN’s Monday Night Football.’
Fewell eager to prove himself as interim coach
‘”He’s got everybody’s respect in this locker room,” Whitner said, noting Fewell went out of his way to talk to players on defense and offense as a coordinator. “He takes charge. He had our attention on Wednesday, he had our attention yesterday and today.”‘
Bills place LB Ellison on IR
‘Ellison suffered a quadriceps injury in Week 8 and has not played or practiced since then. He is the 12th Buffalo player to go on injured reserve this season.’
Bills place LB Ellison on IR; DT Stroud ruled out
‘His absence means the Bills (3-6) could be down both starting defensive tackles against the Jaguars. Kyle Williams has missed three games because of a knee injury, and was questionable after he practiced sparingly this week.’
Bills LB Ellison placed on injured reserve
‘Bills linebacker Keith Ellison’s season is over after he was placed on injured reserve with a quadriceps injury.’
Ellison to I-R; CB Harris activated
‘Sixth-round pick Cary Harris was called up to the active roster as Buffalo is likely to be without Terrence McGee, who is questionable with a knee injury. Ashton Youboty has already been declared out with an ankle injury.’
QB issues to address
‘What I saw in training camp from him, I just haven’t seen this season so far. Where they go from here remains to be seen with respect to next season, but I’m confident the front office is already looking to the college ranks on quarterbacks. They’re looking at what quarterbacks in the league might be available and what free agent quarterbacks will be out there.’
Stroud out for Sunday
‘Fourth on the team in tackles, tied for the team lead in tackles for loss and second in pass breakups, Stroud will be a significant loss. Fewell said on Friday that Stroud did not suffer a setback with his knee injury, it just did not recover in time to allow him to practice thereby removing him as an option on Sunday.’
Wood believes in Brohm
‘”Brian’s a hardcore competitor and that’s one of my favorite things about him,” said Wood. “I played him in high school and he kicked our butts. When I heard he was going to Louisville I said I’m following that guy because he’s going to win a lot of ballgames. He’s a really talented quarterback and can throw the ball anywhere, makes all the throws. Just an instinctive, tough, competitive guy.”‘
Bills’ job might be tough sell
‘It will take a strong selling job for any team to attract one of the heavy-hitting coaches currently out of work. Whether it’s Shanahan, Cowher, Mike Holmgren or Jon Gruden, they don’t necessarily need to come back to coaching. And when they do, they want to have a strong chance of success. In the cases of Shanahan, Cowher or Holmgren, their next NFL job probably would be their last. They would want to go out in a blaze of glory.’
Brohm signing could push Edwards out
‘Signing a young QB prospect like Brohm is yet another signal that the Bills are prepared to move forward without Edwards, who has experienced a dramatic fall from grace.’
Defense aims to be sharp against Jags’
‘”He is like a bowling ball, and he will cut you up,” Bills safety Donte Whitner said. “He’s a physical runner who plays bigger than he is and he likes to deliver a blow instead of taking one. He’s a tremendous running back.”‘
