‘”We’ve got a good, solid core group of players both on offense and defense that are capable of really productive play, and I think we’re seeing that,” Texans General Manager Rick Smith said this week. “We’re certainly not there yet by any stretch of the imagination, but I feel like we’ve got the best team since we’ve been here.”‘

‘”This year we hadn’t started as well as we started in other years because of the gaffes,” said Bills special teams coordinator Bobby April. “We’ve had penalties and turnovers. Those are huge gaffes. But our focus has been on getting better and trying to do everything we can to improve in meetings and on the practice field and in games. That’s been our mantra and we’ve been able to do it. Wherever we’ve started we’ve gotten better.”‘

‘”He can run, he’s athletic and he can put the ball wherever he wants it,” Bills safety George Wilson said. “He can make every throw – to the middle of the field, the deep ball and he has good touch on the short passes.”‘

‘Miller admits to staying in Buffalo because he wanted to stay near his mother. “I had offers from NBC, ABC and CBS, but my mother wanted to stay in Dunkirk and I wanted to be near her,” Miller said.’

‘”[The past two games] have not been pretty at times obviously, but we made the plays that had to be made to win the games,” Bills offensive co-ordinator Alex Van Pelt said. “The defence has done a great job keeping us in it for the last three weeks and that is huge for us. We still have to execute better. We are leaving a lot out there on the table right now. As we get going, hopefully we will have one of those games where everything comes together for us consistently on offence.”‘

‘”Since Dick (Jauron) is still their coach, I went back and watched that game,” Kubiak said Friday. “Those were two huge plays in the first quarter. They were big plays against man coverage, double moves. But he makes big plays against a lot of people.”‘
