‘”I’m just trying to let them know that I’m another valuable weapon on this team and I want to be used as much as possible,” Jackson said. “That’s the No. 1 goal.”‘

Bills C Hangartner misses practice with stiff back
‘That’s potentially bad news for a team that has already shuffled its lineup this week after losing starting right tackle Brad Butler and starting tight end Derek Schouman to season-ending knee injuries.’
Payton Wary of Upstart Bills
Kindred spirits unite at Bills home opener
‘Over the past 20 years, like all Buffalo fans, I have developed a tragic relationship with the Bills. A relationship that has made me question my arbitrary choice and even made me wish my parents named me Cowboy or Steeler.’
Bills sign OL Ramsey to practice squad
‘The Bills have been shuffling their roster after losing starting right tackle Brad Butler and starting tight end Derek Schouman to season-ending knee injuries this week. Buffalo had a spot open on its practice squad after promoting tight end Jonathan Stupar on Tuesday.’
Bills add lineman to practice squad
‘The 6-5, 322-pound Ball State product joins the Bills after being released by the Seahawks prior to the start of the 2009 season. Ramsey originally entered the NFL as an undrafted rookie free agent with the Seahawks following the 2009 draft.’
Bills DT Williams turned loose
‘”I’ve gotten out of being so mechanical,” said Williams. “(Defensive line coach) Bob (Sanders) and (defensive coordinator) Perry (Fewell) have talked to me and said, ‘Just go.’ The past couple of years I’ve just been in my gap almost all the time, and if the play came to my gap then I’d make a bunch of plays. But now they’re freeing me up and saying, ‘Sometimes you can go and take a shot and try to make a play.’ And that’s been the difference.”‘
Booze, buffoons and bullies
‘"Only 26 arrests? I guess that’s not too bad considering that 90% of the crowd of 70,000 is drunken buffoons. Cry me a river over checkpoints."’
Le Roy man wins Bills’ Ultimate Fan contest
‘As Fox’s love of the Bills has grown, so too has his collection of memorabilia. In the picture he submitted, a shirtless Fox has "Go Bills" scrawled on his arms and "#1 Fan" on his chest. He is flanked by autographed jerseys of Jim Kelly, Andre Reed, Eric Moulds and Paul Posluszny’s No. 31 Penn State jersey, as well as assorted Bills’ plaques, helmets, magazines, hats, T-shirts and a pair of seats from Ralph Wilson Stadium, purchased by his girlfriend, Mady Moochler.’
Jackson proving small schools have talent too
‘Only O.J. has a higher career rushing average than Fast Freddy – Simpson averaged 4.8 yards on 2,123 carries while Jackson has picked up 4.7 yards a pop on 230 attempts. He’s shed the “backup” label like a lazy arm tackle.’
Bills should hire Kelly, forget Toronto
‘You can’t simply drive across the Peace Bridge anymore. You need a passport, which takes time and money.’
Scouting report
‘The Bills, who haven’t had a winning record since 2004, appear to be making progress under Dick Jauron, who is in his third season as coach. They began the season with two solid performances.’
Packers lose rookie T Jamon Meredith to Bills
‘The Packers didn’t have any problems with Meredith in his five months with the team but thought he was raw as a player and apparently didn’t try to sign him when Buffalo showed interest.’
Jauron the Gambler?
‘Will any of this continue starting with the Saints on Sunday? I hope so. You can already tell Jauron trusts Alex Van Pelt more in two games than he trusted Turk Schonert in two years. He has a huge body of work to know that he can trust Bobby April with Special Teams (even with the McKelvin fumble). The defense needs to attack to get pressure on the quarterback. I like to see them blitz, especially when they are at home and the crowd helps. He is still a very conservative coach, but he showed signs of change. The hot seat can have that affect on people.’
Bills sign replacements for Butler, Schouman
‘Meredith, who graduated from USC with a 3.74 grade-point average, was viewed as an outstanding athlete but an unpolished project by many scouts entering the draft. At the draft combine, his 40- and 20-yard dash times of 4.99 and 2.84 seconds were tops among tackles.’
