‘Sanborn, who played at Florida State, perhaps has slightly better velocity on his snaps. That little bit lessens the likelihood of having a punt or field goal blocked. "He’s got velocity on the ball and really good accuracy," coach Dick Jauron said. Still, at 6-0, 240, Sanborn he’s 3 inches shorter and almost 15 pounds lighter than Neill, a former defensive end at Rutgers. If Sanborn proves a liability in protection, it wouldn’t be a shock to see Buffalo bring back Neill if he’s still available.’

Notes, quotes
‘Offensive coordinator Turk Schonert on why he feels QB Trent Edwards is a good fit for his offense, which will use a lot of no-huddle and allow Edwards more leeway to audible this season: "He’s very cerebral, he works extremely hard, studies film, studies the game, understands the concepts. There’s a lot to do and you have to be able to absorb this information, relay it quickly and then you have to be able to see the defense and react to the defense quickly."’
Daydream BILLievers
‘While Raider Nation is famous for dressing up like extras from a Mad Max movie, typical Sunday afternoons in the Dawg Pound could pass as the music video for “Who Let the Dogs Out,” and the Hogettes look like, well, hogs, the Daydream BILLievers have a slightly more creative approach. The group wore pajama outfits to the Bears game, and each game the Daydream BILLievers attend will bring with it a different theme. A potential milk-and-cookies tailgate party may be in the works for a future regular season contest.’
Bills again turned upside down by 3-4 defense
‘"We haven’t faced a 3-4, a full-speed, live-contact 3-4 defense since last year against the Patriots," Bills quarterback Trent Edwards said. "That’s something we need. We need to do that before the regular season starts. I thought we got a lot of good work against that. We’re going to see the tape and learn from it. You just gotta kind of move on."’
Stupar supplying steady production
‘”It was a tight window,” Stupar said of the opening Fitzpatrick had on the scoring pass due to Green Bay’s coverage. “(Fitzpatrick) kind of squeezed it in there. I think it actually bounced off (the defender) and bounced off me and I just made a play on it, which was nice. It felt good to get that first touchdown.”‘
Random thoughts from Bills preseason loss
‘Trent Edwards doesn’t look any more comfortable than he did last year.’
Bills’ Moorman to co-host ice cream social Sunday
‘Brian Moorman’s Football Sundae will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. today in the Historical Society Museum, 25 Nottingham Court. A two-time Pro Bowl punter for the Bills, Moorman will be on hand from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. to greet visitors and sign autographs.’
Bills tripped up by Packers
‘The Buffalo starters got dominated on both sides of the ball in a forgettable showing before a sellout crowd of 68,908 at Lambeau Field.’
Packers have switched to 3-4 defense
‘Given the Bills’ depth at receiver, the expectation is the Bills still would trade Parrish if a good offer came along this preseason. Scouts from numerous NFL teams were in the press box, which is common for all preseason games. Dallas, which was rumored to be interested in Parrish in the spring, was among those represented.’
Fans agree that Edwards should call plays
‘Why not let Edwards call the plays? Jim Kelly did it. If the coaches have enough faith in Edwards to run an exotic attack, they might as well go all the way. If Edwards has more freedom to run the show, he won’t have to worry about getting plays in on time and having to burn timeouts, as the Bills did all too often a year ago.’

Pack defense dominates Bills in preseason win
‘Buffalo running back Marshawn Lynch(notes) was held to six yards on six carries as the Bills had trouble moving the ball without Owens and were held scoreless until late in the third quarter.’
Green Bay 31, Buffalo 21
‘Ryan Fitzpatrick finished with 112 yards passing, one TD and one interception for the Bills, who fell to 1-1. Xavier Omon and Bruce Hall each posted a rushing score, while Jonathan Stupar hauled in five balls for 63 yards and a touchdown.’
Ball security costs Bills in loss to Pack
‘”Like we always talk about after games the turnovers just really kill you,” said head coach Dick Jauron. “You can’t expect to win a game turning the ball over like we did. We’ve got to really take care of the football.”‘
Turnovers Plague Bills; Packers Win 31-21
‘Edwards’ night was certainly one to forget. Completing 7-of-11 passes for a mere 45 yards, throwing an interception and losing a fumble. Marshawn Lynch wasn’t much better, gaining only six yards on six carries. Fred Jackson’s evening was marred by a lost fumble on a screen play up the middle of the field.’
