‘”What you see on TV, he’s nothing like that,” Johnson said. “Everybody says he’s this big team disrupter – and I’ll admit, it’s early here; maybe I just haven’t seen it yet – but he hasn’t been anything like that. In the receivers room, he’s always joking.”‘

Edwards says he’s doing what he’s told
‘The problem is as it’s been ever since he took over the reigns from J.P. Losman is he can’t get the Bills into the end zone.’
Good Thing It Is Preseason
‘I would not say it is time for any panic, but there is every reason to be concerned. The good news is the Bills get a perfect opportunity to practice again this Saturday. There might not be a more realistic, regular season atmosphere than preseason game number 3 (for the Steelers) in Pittsburgh, when Dick LeBeau tries to see if his group is regular season ready.’
Bills’ Maybin gets a rookie welcome
‘"I did a pretty good job of keeping myself in shape while everybody was in camp but obviously when you’ve got all this added weight on you it’s a little bit more difficult," said Maybin, who played at 236 pounds last season at Penn State. "But it felt great. I had a pretty good day today. Coaching staff, we’re going to sit down a little bit later on and evaluate things so we can get a more accurate assessment of where I’m at, but I feel good for the first day."’
It’s time for Edwards to cut loose
‘Jauron, who always backpedals from criticism of his players after watching the film, backed off Monday. But for Jauron to utter the words "timid" and "fearful" in any context tells me there’s concern about Edwards within the coaching staff.’
Bills show nothing to brag about
‘Here are the numbers that get my attention: 38-3. That’s the combined score by which the Titans, Bears and Packers starters have outscored Buffalo’s first-stringers this preseason in less than four full quarters.’
Bills no-huddle attack also producing no TDs
‘”We’ve got to put some points on the board,” Edwards said. “Obviously, this week there’ll be more of an emphasis on that.”‘
Elbow injury shelves Schobel
‘Second-year tackle Demetrius Bell was carted off the field with a back injury. He was evaluated in the locker room but the extent of the injury is uncertain. As for Owens, who is out with a sprained toe, Jauron said he talked to Owens, who indicated the injury is improving.’
Maybin’s debut highlights practice
‘”I’ve been doing a lot of work with my trainer back home and then out here we’ve got Joe Kim back with us working out,” said Maybin. “So I feel good about where I’m at. I’ve got a lot of catching up to do. I’m still trying to catch up as far as the playbook goes, but for where I’m at right now I feel like I’m making pretty good progress.”‘
Bills DE Schobel nursing left elbow injury
‘The team’s top pass rusher did not practice Monday in Buffalo’s first session since a 31-21 loss at Green Bay on Saturday. Without divulging the nature of the injury, coach Dick Jauron said it’s not considered a “long, long-term” problem, but could keep Schobel out for a week or so.’
Schobel out at least a week
‘”Aaron has an elbow and it may keep him out for a little while,” said head coach Dick Jauron. “We don’t think it’ll be a problem long, long term, but it could be a week or so, maybe more than that.”‘
Bryan and Elllis reach crunch time
‘”I know that Chris has gotten better every game we’ve played,” said Jauron. “He’s practiced hard, he’s practiced well. He’s been more physical. We’re trying to get him more and more physical. Unfortunately Cope was down for so long with that hamstring and he’s just coming back, and he does show up on the field.”‘
Stupar shows his gift of grab
‘Stupar is the Bills’ leading receiver through three preseason games. He has 15 catches for 155 yards.’
Fans flock to see Buffalo Bills’ training camp
‘Those extra bodies in the seats at Fisher also translated well at the team store, where Tracie Skretny, the retail manager at Ralph Wilson Stadium, said items such as team footballs and jerseys, particularly the Bills’ new throwbacks, sold well.’
Inside slant
‘Three games into the preseason and it’s clear that the Bills’ offense is stuck in neutral.’
