‘”I didn’t really look at it like I was going to specifically take (Palmer’s) spot, but you know, I have been called upon to step up into another slot and just make plays for my team,” Bowen said. “I don’t want to go into it like I’m going to be taking the position from Palmer, just because he’s injured. But the situation has appeared and I’m going to do what I have to do. I want the coaches to see what I’m capable of.”‘

Bills’ Corto packs on the pounds
‘"I put on about 15 pounds of good weight," Corto said. "Last year I was 205 to 200, so it’s a big difference. It helps me sustain, and I’m more confident. I don’t get pushed back. I pride myself on being physical. Even 220 is a little undersized, but if you run in there and you don’t care [about contact], you can play."’
It’s time Saban goes on the wall
‘If the Bills ever had a more productive coach than Saban that man would be Marv Levy, although there’s certainly room for argument.’
The billboard
‘"It’s good for team morale and we get closer that way. At least we know that we’ve got some scrappers out there I guess." – Dominic Rhodes on the fight during practice.’
Buffalo Bills hope Scott hits right tune at strong safety
‘"I don’t think it’s taboo to say we’re still experimenting with how we can use him," defensive coordinator Perry Fewell said. "If we add this, if we add that, can he handle those things? He played corner in college and he has the size (6-foot-1, 219 pounds) of a safety. We always tried to take advantage of his pass coverage skills, but we can also blitz him."’
Rhodes-Kelsay fight at Buffalo Bills camp blows over
‘"Every once in a while you get into it with your brothers and it’s good," said Rhodes, an NFL veteran who is in his first year with the Bills. "It’s nothing big, we’re over it now. We hugged and made up.”’
Practice Notes – Day 15
‘”When those things occur, we don’t like it,” Jauron said. “But it got under control, and that was it. I don’t think it shows much of anything, except the lack of discipline, so you know these guys are very competitive. They’re more competitive than most people and sometimes it gets the better of them, but you know if it happens on game day it really costs them and that’s what we try to preach to them."’
Bills-Bears Kids Day Game sold out

No hiding the Corner for Reggie
‘”I hope there is more to come, so I am not going to say it is the best (moment) right now,” Corner said. “It definitely was a great feeling and I am appreciative of what is going on right now.”‘
Let’s see more of that no-huddle
‘Owens and Evans make a neat combination to run the no-huddle because of their size and speed, respectively, serving as each other’s No. 1 strength as a receiver.’
Bills exchange punches during practice skirmish
‘Rookie guard Eric Wood and defensive tackle John McCargo exchanged several punches. Nearby, starting defensive end Chris Kelsay had Dominic Rhodes in a headlock before bringing the running back to the ground. The skirmish lasted a little over a minute, and required numerous players to break it up.’
Back to school for the Bills
‘”It’s a pain in every professional athlete’s side,” Walker said of training camp. “But life here at St. John Fisher College is decent, the food is all right, our accommodations I can’t say they’re exactly top notch, but we get our own rooms, TV, the Internet, so I’m happy."’
Bills begin process of correcting mistakes
‘”I thought we started off really well. I thought there were a couple of plays when we were really clicking,” added starting quarterback Trent Edwards. “The one play that sticks out in my mind is the last play of the drive (the interception). I need to make sure I don’t turn the ball over like that. … I need to check the ball down to the backs.”‘
Buffalo Bills waive DB Dustin Fox
‘Fox appeared in 11 games over the past two seasons with Buffalo and was used primarily on special teams. Drafted in the third round in 2005 by Minnesota, the former Ohio State player spent his rookie season on injured reserve. He appeared in one game with Philadelphia in 2006.’
