‘"We didn’t talk about it at all (in the locker room), but personally, I think he’s an unbelievable player and I would have liked to have him as a teammate," said safety Donte Whitner. "I’m not the one to make the decisions, but you want to have a guy like that as a teammate."’

Practice Notes – Day 16
‘”We feel like we’re deeper, we feel like there’s more of a challenge at every position in our secondary this year than there’s been in the previous three years that we’ve been here, so that’ll show on the field,” said Jauron. “And because there are probably more guys that are capable of making plays, so more plays are being made. They’ve done well and they’ve worked hard.”‘
Owens unlikely to play Saturday
‘”Bud (Carpenter) and I haven’t really talked about that but I’m sure Bud’s talked to him. You know I’ve been out here, we’ve kept him off the field as you all know, so I haven’t seen a whole lot of him. I’m out here and he’s inside getting treatment and getting it as often as he can but as far as I know it’s really coming along well.”‘
Owens expects to be back practicing next week
‘Updating his injury on his Twitter page before the team’s practice Thursday night, Owens wrote his toe is getting better and he’ll possibly be back at practice Monday. He added that fans don’t need to worry.’
A ëbrotherly’ skirmish marks Bills’ practice
‘”(Wood and I) went at it for a little bit. It was just a spur of the moment thing. We’re both out there competing so no feelings hurt out there … it’s just football.”‘
Vick Story Typical in New Media World
‘We aren’t the only ones who need to adjust. The teams need to grab ahold of these stories too. I give the Bills credit for issuing the statement. Smart move. Get ahead of a story because if you don’t it will get a hold of you. The teams, even the Bills, use to think they could control the flow of information. Those days are gone my Media relatuions friends. Players have PDA’s and Twitter pages. Everyone and their brother has a blog. We live in a 24/7 world no matter how tiring it can be.’
Omon positioned well in Buffalo
‘But the Bills are loaded at running back – kind of a waste since their offensive line is just a half step above awful – and that has to make the green-clad well-wishers from Maryville a bit uneasy. Omon got a longer look than expected in the Hall of Fame Game when Dominic Rhodes was held out because of a sore knee. That won’t always be the case.’
Another good start to camp for Omon
‘”He ran well, he found the holes, he stayed low, he showed power, he moved some people, he had made some people miss,” Jauron said.’
Bills sign rookie LB
‘Manalac (6’0″, 235) went undrafted last spring after a productive career at the University of Cincinnati. A former walk-on, the Pickerington, OH native was a two-year starter for the Bearcats with experience at both outside and middle linebacker.’
Bills say they are not in the Vick sweepstakes
‘He says Buffalo isn’t looking at Vick to fill another position.’
Confident Jackson ready to give Bills’ backfield a boost
‘”I get a lot of positive feedback from my coaches and teammates and in turn, that just makes you confident, and you want to go out and make plays for those guys,” Jackson said. “I’ve got an expanding role that again creates confidence.”‘
Graham excited to shuffle back home to face Buffalo Bills
‘”I went to a lot of games growing up as a kid and was a big-time Bills fan,” Graham said. “I watched Jim Kelly and all of those guys. So I’m just happy and very excited about going back home."’
Chicago (0-0) at Buffalo (0-1)
‘Chicago owns a 11-1-1 advantage in the all-time preseason series with the Bills, including a 16-12 home victory in the most recent installment of the series, prior to the 2005 campaign.’
Feisty Rhodes wants snaps
‘”Most definitely, my mindset is this: When they put me in, I give them a reason not to take me out. When they take me out, give them a reason to put me back in there,” Rhodes explained.’
Buffalo Bills’ backfield leader
‘”Coming into my fourth year, I feel like I have things down a little more,” said Simpson after a recent training camp practice at St. John Fisher College. “I’m just trying to build upon everything and raise the level of play. I want to help the team as much as I can.”‘
