Kollar, Gibbs bring intensity to Texans
‘It took the Texans a week to get Kollar out of his contract with Buffalo. Owner Ralph Wilson initially protested but relented after talking to coach Dick Jauron and Kollar about it. “Coach Jauron had said when we first got there that he wouldn’t hold anybody back if it was a move that you really wanted to make,” Kollar said. “It was a heck of an opportunity there, but I feel we have a great opportunity here, also. They’ve got a good offense here.”‘
New Texans coach’s message loud, clear
‘”I’m a little surprised it happened,” Schobel said about Buffalo letting Kollar out of his contract to come to Houston. “I enjoyed playing for him. I really liked him off the field, too. Now that he’s in Houston and I’m in Columbus, we can get together and play golf.”‘
Bills’ Jackson part of the ‘family’ in Breitbach home
‘”It’s just the business of the game,” Jackson said. “I’ve got to negotiate a contract coming up, so we’ll see what happens with that. I’m pretty sure I’ll be back in Buffalo. We’ve talked to them already. They want to do some things to kind of keep me there, and I want to be there.”‘
Everett adds to museum’s legends gallery
‘The former Thomas Jefferson Yellow Jacket and Buffalo Bills tight end came home to Port Arthur Tuesday afternoon and dropped off a red, white and blue Bills’ jersey to the downtown museum.’
Bills not raising ticket prices
‘The average per-game price for a Bills season ticket will remain $51.24. The Bills said that figure is more than $20 lower than the NFL average for season tickets. The Bills had the lowest average ticket price in the NFL for the games in Buffalo in 2008, and the team said it expects to remain the lowest in the league for the coming season.’
Texans hire defensive line coach
‘Before moving to Buffalo, Kollar coached the defensive line in St. Louis from 2001-05 and spent 11 years with Atlanta from 1990-2000. He began his coaching career as a defensive assistant/special teams for Tampa Bay in 1984. He has made two Super Bowl appearances, with the Falcons in 1998 and the Rams in 2001.’
The best small market franchise ever
‘What have the Steelers done that the Bills couldn’t have? Hating Pittsburgh is like hating the guy who bought the right stock when you thought slap bracelets were the play. Why does Pittsburgh win? Because Pittsburgh wins. Let’s have a first-round draft pick fight, Steelers vs. Bills…’.
No change in Bills’ ticket prices
‘The announcement was made Tuesday, keeping the average price at Ralph Wilson Stadium at $51.14 per seat. That was the lowest ticket charge in the NFL and the Bills anticipate their prices will remain at the bottom of the 32-team league. Team Marketing Report of Chicago, an industry newsletter, reported the average NFL ticket price in 2008 to be $72.20.’
Kollar leaves Bills for Texans
‘He was still under contract with the Bills, who could have blocked his move to another team.’

Ticket prices remain the same for 2009 season
‘The Bills 2009 average season ticket price is over $20 less than the 2008 NFL average season ticket price. The Bills expect to rank as the lowest average ticket price in the National Football League.’
Texans hire Bills’ Kollar to coach defensive line
‘Kollar, 56, has been Buffalo’s defensive line coach the last three years. He also has coached the defensive line at St. Louis (2001-05) and Atlanta (1990-00). Kollar coached in Super Bowls with the Falcons (1998) and Rams (2001).’
Consistency the top commodity at Senior Bowl
‘”You look for something that stands out in practice and then the next day does it stand out again or is there another attribute or something else that the player does that catches your attention,” said defensive coordinator Perry Fewell. “So when you look at the tape of that player and you notice something in their college games, it’s encouraging if it also showed up at the Senior Bowl. You want to see that consistent level of play. You look for that more than anything.”‘
Super teams leave fans here jealous
‘Everywhere you looked Sunday, you saw winning qualities the Bills desperately lack. I could imagine the fans out there, shouting at their TV sets: “How come we don’t have one of those?”‘
