‘Actually, they could lose to the Bills (6-8) and still get in if Tampa Bay ties or beats San Diego in an earlier game Sunday.’

Ex-Aztecs, NFL quarterback Kofler dies at 49
‘Matt Kofler, a Patrick Henry High graduate who went on to play quarterback for the Buffalo Bills and Indianapolis Colts, died of an undisclosed illness yesterday in his El Cajon home. He was 49.’
Another lost season for Buffalo
‘”We’re obviously not going to the playoffs, but we (can spoil it for) some others,” Edwards said. It’s the role the Bills are becoming too comfortable with.’
Brown’s experience moves line
‘”Playing 20 years, he’s had the experience of relating to NFL players,” said Kugler, who was the Bills’ assistant offensive line coach last season. “He’s played against a lot of the guys our players are competing against. The knowledge of information he can give these guys is invaluable. He can talk about various techniques and the background of some of the players we play against. And the work ethic that he brings to these guys and instills in these guys, I couldn’t have a better assistant working with me.”‘
Rookie class passes test for Broncos
‘A whopping 12 rookies (eight draft picks, four college free agents) have played for the Broncos. An NFL-high six rookies have appeared in all 14 games, while eight have started a combined 50 games at 10 different positions. Spencer Larsen, a sixth-round draft pick, started at fullback and linebacker in the same game.’
‘Pro Bowl Peters,’ pick that’s hard to figure
‘Mostly, astute Bills fans just want to know how someone who has whiffed on more blocks this season than a Little Leaguer trying out new glasses gets a Pro Bowl nod.’

Peck’s Preview
‘Edwards and no Losman makes the Bills a different team. They did play well, very well against the Jets. But I sensed that was fueled by the divisional rivalry. The Broncos have too much to play for. A win, or a Chargers loss earlier in the day, gives Denver the division title. That?s enough for the Broncos to squeeze out a 24-21 win.’
Gameday Tipsheet: Week 16
‘Buffalo’s ground game has been producing of late with four of their best rushing games over the past five weeks. If Marshawn Lynch’s bruised shoulder is okay, the Bills should have success on the ground against Denver’s run front which allows over 140 rushing yards a game (140.1).’
Bills LT Peters frustrated by team’s silence
‘"No progress," Peters blurted when asked earlier this week if there was anything new on the contract front. "They just gave me an assurance that they were going to get it done. I haven’t heard anything since Week 1, since I reported."’
Free-agent Losman won’t be in demand
‘"He was a first-round pick, but he wasn’t able to perform in this league," former NFL personnel executive Michael Lombardi said. "He’s not going to be in a bonanza situation. If he signs somewhere it will be based on experience and not on his production. He’s at a crossroads. He’s going to have to go somewhere and rehabilitate his career rather than accelerate his career. If you’re his agent, you need to put him in a situation where he’s a backup with good coaching in an offense that fits his style of movement and running around."’
Edwards, Lynch, Parrish, Peters questionable
‘It was anticipated that Trent Edwards, Marshawn Lynch and Jason Peters would all be questionable for Sunday’s game as all three were limited during parts of practice this week. The one unexpected addition came on Friday as Roscoe Parrish was added to the group.’

‘Broncos 27, Bills 17.’
Parrish knows why no Pro Bowl
‘”It comes down to your team’s record,” said Parrish. “I’ve come to realize that even though I’ve been on the top on punt return it all comes down to wins and losses."’
