‘Trent Edwards left the game at halftime after he suffered a groin injury earlier in the game. Before leaving the game, Edwards completed 10 of his 21 passes for 112 yards. “Trent couldn’t push off his right side or get any velocity on his passes” said Bills’ head coach Dick Jauron. “He hurt it early in the game, and we really should have replaced him earlier”. J.P Losman came in relief of Edwards, but endured the same struggles only completing 11 of his 17 passes for 93 yards.’

‘I like Fred Jackson. Great guy, I mean it, but if it’s 3rd and short, and the best running back on your team has gashed a defense for over 130 yards, give him the football. Please. I totally understand that Derrick Dockery and Jason Peters decided to block the same guy on the play, but still, give it to Lynch, and if he doesn’t get it, give it to him on fourth down.’

‘Dick Jauron has to do something about terrible communications during the game. Edwards had to blow a timeout in the 2nd quarter and the Bills had to blow a second one when they didn’t have 11 on the field on a 49ers punt late in the first half leaving them with just one for their two minute drill. A lost challenge and a Losman timeout when the play clock was running out cost them two second half timeouts. Turk Schonert got too cute down at the goal line in the 2nd quarter. They were running well but when a five yard run got them to the two they threw the next two times and had to settle for a missed field goal attempt. Why does he refuse to stay with the running game when they are dropping six in the secondary? Perry Fewell made nice adjustments after the opening touchdown drive. Grade D-: Four burned timeouts is absolutely terrible.’

‘Rian Lindell missed two field goals and the Bills bogged down in the red zone often giving up on a running game that was working very well behind Marshawn Lynch. He ran for 134 yards in the loss.’

‘Two missed field goals and poor execution in the red zone on offense played the largest role in lifting San Francisco to a surprising 10-3 victory in Orchard Park.’

‘Willis had 14 tackles and a forced fumble in a 10-3 win over Buffalo on Sunday that all but ended the Bills’ dwindling playoff hopes.’

‘The Bills didn’t go into detail in describing Edwards’ injury, except to announce he was out indefinitely. Edwards watched from the sideline while wearing a long dark coat and with a wool cap pulled over his head. Edwards finished the first half 10-of-21 for 112 yards. On his final play, he rolled to his right and completed a 24-yard pass to Josh Reed as time ran out, and with Buffalo trailing 10-0.’

‘Whitner was hurt in the Bills’ 26-17 loss to the New York Jets on November 2 and has missed three of the last four games, including the past two, with the injury.’

‘Pat Jones, the head coach of the team during Thomas’ tenure, had a major impact on Thomas becoming the running back he would be, Thomas said. Jones turned Thomas into a running back that could run between the tackles and gain the difficult yards. “Pat was the guy that made me tough,” Thomas said. “He ran the ball, right up the gut, every single play. I give a lot of credit to him.”‘

‘Thomas said he keeps busy with two radio shows and two television shows and he also has started a line of training facilities in the Buffalo area aimed at helping kids with sports and their education, but he has a new reason to keep track of his Cowboys: He’s a voter in the Harris Poll. “I’ve been able to keep up with them a lot this year, more than I have been,” Thomas said.’

‘Sure enough, the “D” has been less than advertised. Edwards’ troubles tended to obscure it, but the defense has been positively mediocre of late. Over the last five weeks, the Bills have allowed 26.2 points a game. Some of the fourth-quarter performances have been sadly reminiscent of the worst of the Clements-Spikes era.’
