‘"I don’t think it’s a sense of desperation, but certainly a sense of urgency," Bills receiver Lee Evans said. "We’ve let some opportunities pass us by. But we’re still in a good spot. So now is a good time as any to get back on track."’

Whitner wants more spunk, less sulk out of Bills
‘"It looked like everybody was straining and stressing and trying to make plays and compensate for what they think is missing instead of locking in and focusing on their individual job and having fun doing it," Whitner said. "During the week is when we put our work in. The things we do in practice will transfer over to the football field on game day. So there’s no need to stress and do all those things."’
Quintessential patience
‘”Looking back on my whole experience in the NFL thus far, I really felt like God was kind of testing my patience,” Quinn said this week during a conference call with the Buffalo media. “And looking back on the draft, I was thinking, ‘Wow, what other things could I be doing now, like maybe playing 18 holes of golf?’ I probably would’ve been done with the 18 before I got picked."’
Cribbs is special-teams star, with or without the ball
‘”This guy is like a prizefighter,” said Bills special teams coach Bobby April. “Boy, he’s really tough, fast and big. There was a guy years ago, Michael Bates, who was very similar to this where he was a top returner, he was the top cover player and they’re rare when you get a guy like that. And this is a rare guy, Cribbs. He’s a real challenge.”‘
Late start, weather could pose problems at Bills game
‘”Night games are typically more problematic, because people are going to be arriving and departing when it’s dark,” Erie County Sheriff Timothy B. Howard said. “Because it’s an 8:30 p. m. game, people arrive early and potentially start drinking earlier, so there’s a possibility of more drunken drivers.”‘
Buffalo Bills’ Ellison is called a backup, but frequently starts
‘Ellison, seemingly an afterthought in the Bills’ draft of 2006 when he was picked as an undersized linebacker in the sixth round out of Oregon State, has been pressed into starting duty in each of his three years with the team.’
