‘The Bills had just moved into a 16-7 lead and seemed to be in control, but on the first snap after the kickoff, Ted Ginn Jr. beat Terrence McGee as he did all day for what became a 64-yard gain. Just like that, the momentum switched.’

Bills’ grades after their loss to Dolphins
‘The coordinators had a rough day and head coach Dick Jauron wasted a timeout with a challenge in the fourth quarter that had no chance of being reversed. On defense it just seemed like the Bills were a step behind a Miami offense that thrives on innovation. Offensively, Turk Schonert seemed to rely a little too much on the pass in the fourth quarter. It was a one-score game and when the Bills were backed up at their own 2, they probably didn’t need to throw three straight passes, the last of which wound up being a safety.’
Memo to Bills’ fans: Don’t start that parade yet
‘There are reasons for the Bills and their supporters to be apprehensive. They’ve lost two of their last three games and haven’t scored a truly overwhelming victory since Week 1 versus messed-up Seattle.’
Miami Dolphins teach young Bills QB a lesson
”’We all know that he’s a young quarterback and he’s performed at such a high level,” Bills coach Dick Jauron said. “It was a mistake, and one I don’t think he’ll make again. He’s a bright guy and he learns from what happens to him on the field.”’
Dolphins secondary shuts down Trent Edwards
‘Edwards had set a team record when he completed 25 of 30 passes in his previous game, a 23-14 win over San Diego. Sunday, he admitted he had no answers for Miami’s defense. “When they brought pressure they really did a good job of covering our receivers, tight ends and our backs,” he said. “I was pretty impressed with the way their secondary played.”‘
Bills postgame quotes
‘”I don’t think we really got into a good, manageable down distance on third downs with the way we performed on first and second down this particular game. That is again the way their defense played, and it is tough to convert on third and seven, third and eight, third and nine, third and ten, and that is the reason why they are dropping out back in the coverage. That in turn brings your defense back out on the field. It is a hot environment and everyone is tired, and they are probably a little more used to the weather than we are. You can’t just leave your defense out on the field like that, and you can’t put your special teams in a bind, and get Brian Moorman backed up into the end zone punting out the end zone all day either. A lot of it has to do with the offensive schemes and the way we performed, and like I said we have to look it on tape.”‘
Offense misses Reed
‘”Josh is a big element to our offense,” said Trent Edwards. “He creates mismatches on linebackers inside and he’s a big third down receiver for us and that might be part of the reason in the second half we weren’t able to keep the drives alive. Maybe that’s some because of Josh.”‘
Motorola Coach’s Corner: Alex Van Pelt
‘The biggest thing is with being a quality control coach, you’re always one week ahead. You’re always looking at the next opponent, you don’t really get to focus as much on the upcoming opponent. Without having those responsibilities now, I can focus a lot more on the opponent that we’re playing that week, that’s the biggest thing.’

Immediate Reactions: Miami 25, Buffalo 16
‘Giving 11 carries to Lynch and 10 to Jackson is inexcusable, plain and simple. Jackson admittedly hits the holes with a little more patience, and that’s a boon when the hole isn’t always there, but Lynch showed on several occasions today why he’s a better option than Jackson, who I have absolutely no problem with as a second-string or fill-in back.’
Bumbling Fourth Quarter Offense Leads To Loss
‘Trent Edwards had nice touch on his passes on the opening possession but struggled for most of the rest of the first half with some inaccurate throws. He moved the team well in spurts but had two very costly fourth quarter turnovers with an interception when his arm was hit as he threw. The next series he fumbled while he was stretching for a first down on a third and one sneak. He also had two sacks where he held the ball too long including the safety in the fourth quarter which he also fumbled the ball. Grade F: Came crashing back to earth.’
Dolphins Down Bills 25-16
‘Dolphins linebacker Joey Porter was a thorn in the Bills side. Porter had two sacks giving him 10.5 on the season and forced the Edwards fumble as well. Wideout Ted Ginn Jr. had a career game, hauling in seven catches for 175 yards. He was the favorite target of quarterback Chad Pennington, who finished the day 22-of-30 for 314 yards and a touchdown to tight end Anthony Fasano in the first quarter.’
Miami Roars Back To Whip Bills 25-16
‘The fourth quarter is suppose to be Trent Edwards time and with the Bills trailing by one when the final stanza started fans thought good things would happen. What did happen was three straight turnovers wrapped around a safety on their last four possessions.’
Miami 25, Buffalo 16
‘Pennington managed the game well, completing 22-of-30 passes, while Ted Ginn caught seven passes for 175 yards for the Dolphins (3-4), who snapped a two- game losing skid. Williams finished with only 16 yards on the ground, while also catching two passes for 43 yards.’
Bills hang on in loss to Dolphins
‘Miscues and turnovers by the Bills kept an upstart Miami team within striking distance early in the second half, and the Dolphins capitalized each and every time as Buffalo dropped their first division contest of the season 25-16 at Dolphins Stadium.’
