‘One winning season this decade, a no-name quarterback, a journeyman coach and guess who’s looking down at the New England Patriots in the standings?’

Bills’ returns teams warrant special attention
‘That’s what happens in Buffalo, where the Bills get cheap points scored or set up by Parrish’s punt returns, Terrence McGee’s kickoff returns and Brian Moorman’s timely, well-placed punts. With McGee injured, first-round pick Leodis McKelvin handles the kickoff return duties, sort of like going from a bottle of nitroglycerin to dynamite with a fuse. McGee returned five kickoffs for touchdowns in his four full seasons returning kickoffs.’

Bills rookies visit high school in Mississauga
‘"I wish I had something like this when I was in high school," said the talented cornerback-kick returner who was selected 11th overall by Buffalo in April’s NFL draft. "It’s a lot of fun to come out here and put smiles on kids’ faces. I mean, it’s just a great feeling."’
Reflections on a bizarre Bills’ Sunday
‘Though the power was out, McNally was in phone contact with the NFL offices in New York, which made the decision to delay the game in the first quarter, the CBS production truck and the officiating crew on the field while, when necessary, yelling out the time remaining for the press box.’
Win over wounded Chargers still impressive
‘The running game is only 23rd in the league (100.2 yards per game) and neither Marshawn Lynch or Fred Jackson have reached 100 yards on their own in a game this season. The offensive line has done a decent job in pass protection, save for that one play in Glendale, but the run blocking has left plenty to be desired.’
Not to be denied their Bills
‘Below are some excerpts from just a few of the more interesting, inventive and impressive means that Bills fans employed last Sunday to both provide and receive all of the Bills action that was not broadcast.’
Season-ending knee surgery for Bills LB DiGiorgio
Bills reserve linebacker John DiGiorgio is scheduled to have season-ending surgery next week to repair a torn ligament in his right knee, according to the player’s agent.’
Edwards entering upper echelon
‘”He’s been kind of consistent since he started. We’ve talked about him in our OTAs his first year and how he’s kind of been the same guy from the first day he stepped on the field,” said Jauron. “Now he’s got a lot more information and a lot more experience day-to-day in practice and in games he’s got a lot more knowledge of our offense and how it functions and how it works. He’s using all of that. He is a good learner, a very, very good learner. And he’s a great worker. He’s just a good player.”‘
Buffalo stampede
‘”Fans and media should give it two or three years to see how a draft pick works out before they pass judgment,” Whitner said. “Think of how disappointed the Buffalo fans and organization would be if I didn’t work out. I bet they like that 5-1 right now.”‘
Bills scan Northtowns Imaging for partnership
‘As the Buffalo Bills official medical imaging partner, Northtowns Imaging will continue to provide specialized medical imaging for all players of the Buffalo Bills. This medical imaging includes state of the art high field and open MRI, spiral CT scan and a full range of other radiology services.’
The brain trust
‘Starting the season 5-1 would be encouraging under any circumstances, particularly for a franchise that has a bleak recent history of starting dismally, then improving just enough to delude itself and its fans into postseason fantasies. These Bills are beating quality teams-the Chargers were their third vanquished opponent who reached the playoffs a year ago-by out-thinking and out-coaching them, then following thought with action. The next few months should be something to see, NYSEG and balloon launchers willing.’
No bluff in the Buff, as every passing option gets used for Bills
‘The underneath focus is why the Bills held the ball for over 35 minutes even though 30 of their 62 plays were throws; that’s in part thanks to both their vaguely West Coast reliance on shorter passes and Edwards’ ferocious accuracy. Importantly, the bomb has become a weapon of last resort, with the longest completion of the day standing as Roscoe Parrish’s 22-yard gain.’
Buffalo Bills touchdown at Malton school
‘Members of the Buffalo Bills Rookie Club will visit the Mississauga school to deliver $3,000 worth of football equipment on behalf of the National Football League. A total of 14 Bills’ players will share their personal stories with student athletes, managers, coaches and special needs students, starting at noon in the school gymnasium. Peel District School Board trustee Rick Williams and Superintendent Scott Moreash will also attend.’
Loyal fans deal with heartbreak
‘The Bills, however, won on Sunday and have had a great season so far. The true test for the passionate fan will be to see who is still painting their chest when the playoffs roll around in January.’
