‘”There has been some dialogue back and forth and that is certainly good news,” Evans said early in camp. “We are moving in the right direction on that, so hopefully we can get a deal done. Last time there was some stuff out there, but there wasn’t a lot of dialogue, so there definitely has been some progress.”‘

Training Camp Practice Report: Aug 20
‘I thought we had a good camp,” said Paul Posluszny. “We improved on a lot of things that we really wanted to focus on. I thought we really got better as the weeks went on. The good thing is that camp is just the start though. We still have a couple of preseason games left and some more time to get ready for the regular season, but we got off to a good start.”‘
Edwards day-to-day with thigh bruise
‘”I wish I could be out there with the guys, but it’s part of the sport,” said Edwards. “You get hurt. You just don’t want to be selfish to the point where you’re going to get back out there and re-injure yourself and not be able to play at your level throughout the season. So you’ve got to be conscious of that and make sure that your team realizes that you want to get back out there as soon as possible to help this team win. It’s disappointing, but I’m glad it happened during the preseason instead of the regular season.”‘

‘As for the players that influenced me the most in camp I’d have to say Jabari Greer and George Wilson. Those guys come to practice every day and I’m feeding off those guys whether they know it or not. And it’s not just those guys, but they’re two good guys that show great character, great attitude and they always give great effort. They’re two veterans I’ve definitely been following at this level.’
Bills’ QB Edwards misses practice
‘Edwards, dressed in sweat pants, was walking with a limp, and it’s not clear when he’ll be able to resume practicing or play in Buffalo’s preseason game at Indianapolis Sunday. Coach Dick Jauron is expected to update Edwards’ status following Wednesday’s practice, the Bills’ final session at training camp in suburban Rochester.’
Royal treatment
‘”It’s big, finally after being out of all the OTA’s and now training camp, me and Trent (Edwards) get a chance to work and get our timing down together,” Royal noted. “Especially since I wasn’t able to participate in OTA’s and mini-camp.”‘
Starter or not, Royal is a leader
‘”You need to be able to turn to your tight end in this offense and get him the ball in tight space,” Edwards said. “Rob is obviously a big, physical tight end that we need to get in those situations and be accurate with the football. That’s where we’re going to score points in the red zone, with a guy like that.”‘
Losman keeps head in game
‘”You’ve just got to be ready,” Losman said at St. John Fisher College. “During this whole situation, I’ve just kind of been trying to force myself to kind of get ready. It can be tough at times. It’s hard at times. But like tonight, it could happen for just a couple of plays. I’ve got to be ready.”‘
The billboard
‘”Sometimes they come back quickly, sometimes they don’t,” Jauron said. “Sometimes it turns into a deep bleeding thing and we’re hoping it’s not that.”‘
Ceremony or not, Bills’ receivers should be recognized for YAC
‘With Parrish and rookie James Hardy banged up at practice this week, the team may not collectively move ahead after completions in game three the way did in Ontario; on top of that, the thigh contusion Trent Edwards suffered in Tuesday’s practice will at best limit him this Sunday, as fans try to breathe deeply and slow their heart rates while hoping to hear that it’s nothing more than a nasty bruise. While everyone waits for an Edwards update, the fact remains that the regular season passing blueprint has been drawn.’
Loss of father stuns Bills DT
‘”Life is different now,” Johnson said in a somber tone. “I was really close to my dad. He was a great guy, a great father. It was very tough to swallow because he was my biggest supporter. He supported me in everything I did and taught me all the qualities I have now as far as going out every day and taking every day as a blessing and working hard. That’s all I knew and I learned it from him.”‘
Bills’ Edwards exits practice with deep bruise
‘”It’s too early,” Jauron said. “We’ll just have to wait to see what tomorrow holds, so I’ll wait until morning. Sometimes they come back from these very quickly and sometimes they don’t.”‘
Edwards bruises thigh, prompting Losman to speak
‘”You’ve just got to be ready,” Losman said. “This whole situation, I’ve just kind of been trying to force myself to get ready. It can be tough at times, but in an instance like tonight it can happen for just a couple of plays.”‘
Reality Is J.P. Losman Just One Play Away
‘Not only that, I detected a little more maturity coming from Losman, and it has nothing to do with the facial hair. He still has plenty of football ahead of him, potentially, and he can’t waste a moment of his time dwelling on what should or could have been. He has to live in the moment, because any moment could mean he’s in there running the offense for real. I mean, hopefully J.P. has heard the infamous Billy Joe Hobert story some nine years ago, when Hobert suddenly found himself in a game at New England, was horrible, and admitted he didn’t really know the playbook very well. Billy Joe’s honesty was admirable, but he was on the next flight out of Buffalo with a one-way ticket.’
Losman dealing with backup role
‘”Right now is not the time to be thinking about anything like that,” said Losman. “I had a chance to digest everything that happened in that situation in the offseason. Right now I’m strictly focused on being ready.”‘
