‘The Buffalo Bills have added a quarterback to the roster as the club claimed Matt Baker off waivers. Baker had been with the Dolphins up until early this week.’

‘We thought we would provide a comprehensive listing of what the rest of the media pundits across the country thought of Buffalo’s 2008 draft class. Appearing in alphabetical order by affiliation, here are the draft grades from coast to coast.’

‘So, while Buffalo’s first two picks — top-round cornerback Leodis McKelvin and No. 42 overall choice James Hardy (wide receiver) — in the draft are understandably grabbing all the attention from fans and media right now, don’t be surprised if Ellis steps in and has an immediate impact on a defensive line that was frighteningly weak at applying pressure last season. Four ends who are at least semi-competent are better than three, that’s for sure, and the Bills were smart to recognize they needed help in that area.’

‘”Since I’ve been here, the scouts have been indoctrinated to look for and see what those guys bring to the table on special teams,” April said. “A lot of these guys really made that a priority to check on the players, not just as offensive or defensive players, but as what they can do for us on teams. We’ve got a bunch of good players in the draft for special teams. I think it’s really going to be beneficial to us.”‘

‘Losman had his chance as a starter and failed miserably. I doubt there’s much faith in him around the league as even a backup. I don’t think he’s one of the top 50 quarterbacks in the sport. It’s folly to suggest he could lift the Bills to a playoff spot if Edwards goes down. Losman has been a consistent failure in the big games, and on the road.’

‘The common denominator in all of Buffalo’s free agent and top draft picks: they make the team bigger physically across the board.’
