‘"We haven’t been able to hook up for a lot of reasons," said Losman, alluding to things like a change in coaching staffs and his on again, off again status as the team’s starting quarterback last season. "I thought me and Lee would’ve hooked up a lot more this year, we have a great connection, but we haven’t. We’re trying to get the ball to him; he’s our No. 1 guy and we’re trying to connect on down-the-field passes."’

‘"Willis is a hard worker. He does whatever he can so he has worked hard but he’s missed time," coach Dick Jauron said. "So it’s going to affect him in terms of conditioning. He’ll have to get used to the twisting and turning. He’ll have to wear some special protection, obviously, which he wore today. He’s starting to get used to that. But he did a nice job. Now we’ll just have to see how it translates into what he can do tomorrow and all through the week."’
