‘Villarrial overextended a tendon in his right ankle and Neufeld is suffering from an injured left foot.’

Losman and Carr Traveling Similar Paths
‘"On occasion it certainly is hampering (execution)," said Jauron of his team’s pass protection. "But I wouldn’t lay it all on one spot. To some degree the luck hasn’t gone with us. It starts with me, I’ve got to get them better prepared. Then we’ve got to execute better on a consistent basis on game day. We tend to make a mistake here or there and when we make them the opponent has been capitalizing. But there are a number of things and we have to cut them out. Pass protection is one of them."’
Bills place G Villarrial, TE Neufeld on IR
‘Villarrial is considering surgery to repair what was described as an overextended tendon in his right ankle, while Neufeld is out with an injured left foot, the team announced. Both were hurt in Buffalo’s 17-16 loss at Indianapolis last weekend.’
Moulds facing familiar foe
‘”We had hoped to keep Eric,” Bills general manager Marv Levy said. “But he had a high (salary) cap figure and there was an unwillingness on his part to renegotiate his contract, so we really had no alternative but to make the trade.”‘
Injured Reserve for Neufeld and Villarrial
‘"It’s never what you want to have happen," Jauron said. "But it’s what happens in our business."’
Kellys to host 7th ball
‘Buffalo Bills and Hall of Fame quarterback Jim Kelly and his wife, Jill, will host the seventh annual Hunter’s Hope Candlelight Ball from 7 p.m. until midnight Friday in Adam’s Mark Hotel.’
Texans weakened for Bills
‘The Texans will be without both starting offensive tackles, both starting defensive tackles and their third cornerback.’
Losman recalls fast start
‘"I’ve never understood the concept of how much of a team it takes – all three phases – to win in the NFL. You need all those phases, coaches, players, the people around the players, to be positive, to get people in good spirits. You need a lot of things going right to win in this league."’
Inside slant
‘The game is a clash of 3-6 teams with poor offenses, young defenses and little hope of making the playoffs.’
Strategy and personnel
‘When judging Lindell under fire, it’s difficult because he’s had so few opportunities with the Bills to win games at the end. In his 3 1/2 seasons in Buffalo, he’s had only two kicks in the closing seconds of regulation to win or force overtime, and made both chip-shots against the Bengals.’
Notes, quotes
‘Moulds, who still keeps a home in Buffalo, said he’ll have mixed feelings facing his old team. "I’m going to come back after the season and see some of my old friends," he told Bills beat reporters. "I have a lot of people coming to the game from Buffalo. I’ve tried to put a limit on the tickets, but I still have a lot of friends there and fans and people I still talk to. I was drafted there in the first round and played there 10 years. You grow accustomed to the people there. Buffalo was always great to me. The fans were always great. It was fun playing there. I had to move on, and they realized that. At the same time, you still miss a lot of things about Buffalo."’
Lost faith in Losman
‘His inability to make adjustments under pressure, his lack of poise and his regression as a quarterback in the NFL are becoming apparent each and every week.’
Moorman on record pace
‘Moorman has a 41.4-yard net punting average, which is tops in the NFL. If he can maintain an average of more than 40 yards, he’d become the first punter to do it since the stat became official in 1976.’
Bills’ conference calls
‘(on being happy with QB JP Losman’s improvement) “Yes, I am. Saying that I’m not saying in any way that he’s performed at the level he needs to perform at in every game and certainly not in every play, but he has gotten better constantly. He’s improving even when he makes errors I feel strongly that he’s learned from those errors and he’s going to go (and) keep pushing beyond it and keep improving. He’s got a terrific attitude, he’s got physical talent and he really wants to do it. He’s not reluctant to work, he likes to work at it, he wants to be good and I do believe he’s going to be a real good quarterback in the National Football League.”‘
