‘The turnover resulted in a touchdown for the Bills on the first play of the season just five seconds into the game. The Patriots have reviewed the play several times this week to make sure it won’t happen again in Sunday’s rematch at Buffalo.’

Pats looking for a better start in rematch
‘The Bills carried momentum into the third quarter and were leading 17-7 when linebacker Don Davis stopped running back Willis McGahee on a fourth-and-one play at the Patriots 7-yard line. Belichick explained the play on Wednesday, saying, “The defensive line, Vince [Wilfork] and Mike Wright did a good job of penetrating and tying up the offensive linemen and Don was able to scrape unblocked and make the tackle.”‘

‘”I think that when you watch the video of the game, there are areas where we do (show progress),” Jauron said. “It’s just not overall and it’s just not consistent enough. There are a number of reasons. We’re all involved. I have to prepare them better. They have to execute better. We need more attention to detail on the field in their execution and part of that is me, too. We’ve got guys who are learning with different schemes than they’ve been involved with. It takes time.”‘
Strategy and personnel
‘The move to obtain DE Anthony Hargrove from the St. Louis Rams a day before the NFL trade deadline wasn’t made because the Bills were necessarily unhappy with the play of Aaron Schobel, Chris Kelsay and Ryan Denney, who have a combined 10 sacks through six games. But it was a sign that Buffalo’s roster is still a work in progress.’
Notes, quotes
‘”In light of the entire weekend, it was maybe even more disappointing. We know what our city and our area are going through from this storm because we’ve been going through the same thing with our own families. We were hoping this game could bring a little sunshine into the community, but it didn’t. The fact, is we didn’t play well enough to win and they beat us over there.” — Coach Dick Jauron, commenting on his team’s 20-17 loss two days after a freak October snowstorm buried the Buffalo region under 2 feet of snow and knocked out power to more than 400,000.’

DE Hargrove finds familiarity with new team
‘Kollar is now the Bills defensive line coach. "Some guys don’t like him, but I do," Hargrove said Wednesday, after his first practice with Buffalo. "He’s loud. Sometimes he can be a little obnoxious. But he’s everything that I need as a coach. I think he brings out the best in me."’
Patriots QB faces team that ruined his first play
‘"I remember right after it happened I ran off the field and I said, `that’s a hell of a way to start the season,’ " Brady said Wednesday. "We were watching it today so I’m sick of seeing that play. I’ve seen it probably 30 times in the last six weeks. I’m trying to put that one out of my mind."’
Lee Evans Conference Call
Dick Jauron Conference Call
‘Q: Was it more difficult for the team to handle losing a close game to the winless Detroit Lions than it was to lose by two points to the Patriots? DJ: I would say no to be perfectly honest because there are so few of these games that you play. There are only 16 of them in a regular season schedule, and you’re real excited about every one of them. And if you’re not [then] there’s something wrong. And if you’re not then you shouldn’t be in the business. When you win it, you’re really high regardless of who you’re playing, and if you lose it then you’re really down regardless of who you’re playing or how you played or what the score is. So I would say no not necessarily.’
