‘Defensive line…F-: Pathetic Performance. Little Pressure, big gaping holes for the running game.’

Bills Give Lions First Win 20-17
‘Just when you thought it couldn’t get worse than last week, it does.’
Detroit 20, Buffalo 17
‘Buffalo quarterback J.P. Losman finished 21-of-34 passing for 207 yards, with two scores and one interception in the loss. Roscoe Parrish had two catches for 48 yards and a touchdown while and Lee Evans caught eight passes for 82 yards the Bills (2-4), who have lost three of four games by eight points or less.’

Bills Slow Start Costly in Detroit
‘But the offense couldn’t develop any consistency. Three of their eight first half drives resulted in negative yardage. Another resulted in an interception. Their longest drive in the first half covered 19 yards.’
Detroit 20, Buffalo 17
‘Instead of the usual late mistakes that have cost the Lions in four of five opening losses, Detroit made the clutch plays it needed on both sides of the ball, ending Rod Marinelli’s long wait for his first win as a head coach.’
Losman will take his time; McGahee needs help from line
‘Buffalo, 24-20.’
Bills, Lions ready for aerial assaults
‘Lions offensive coordinator Mike Martz doesn’t need any excuse to throw. Detroit is the most pass-happy team in the NFL, throwing on 71 percent of its plays. So even though the Bills’ defense has looked weak against the run, it needs to be prepared to defend plenty of passes.’
Bills need a victory to keep the local spotlight
‘Losing today would be another thing. Falling to a winless and crippled Detroit team, even on the road, would be a major stagger, a giant step back for the Bills. It would be much worse than the loss in Chicago. A loss would be a significant blow to the Bills’ confidence and sense of progress. After the opener, the Patriots’ Tom Brady said you can’t draw conclusions early in the year. Brady said you begin to find out about a team after the sixth week or so. So after today, we’ll have a clearer sense of who the Bills really are.’
By the power vested in him
‘Allaire, 35, who is in his first year as the head strength and conditioning coach, is responsible for coordinating and implementing the team’s conditioning programs during the regular season and offseason. He also supervises the Bills’ nutritional program. Through his training regimen, his goal is to keep the players healthy and prepared physically for the rigors of a long season.’
Bills take woeful Lions seriously despite record
‘”This is no walk in the park,” said veteran guard Chris Villarrial, who played Detroit twice a year while a member of the Bears. “They’re going to be hungry, playing in front of their home crowd, and they want to get a win. It’s crucial for us to get back to .500.”‘
Q&A: Robert Royal
‘If you were head coach of the Bills for one day and could add one play to the playbook, what would it be? “It would definitely be a play for the tight ends. I’d draw something up in the dirt that nobody’s ever seen. I’d go with a triple tight end screen, have all the guys involved. I’d put (Brad) Cieslak at the Y, Ryan Neufeld at the X and Kevin Everett at the Z. We’ll throw it out to Kevin, he’ll throw it back to Neufeld and he’ll throw it to Cieslak for the touchdown. That would be sweet. I don’t think Coach Jauron would put that one in.”
Win today a must for Bills
‘It’s pretty simple. A win and the Bills are 3-3 and hanging around. A loss means a 2-4 record but it’s worse than that.’
Jauron isn’t sorry he shuffled off to Buffalo
‘”Coach is letting us do what we do, you know what I mean?” McGahee said. “He’s going to coach us the same way he’s been coaching us all year, and he’s going to continue to do that, and we’re going to continue to do our same thing.”‘
Buffalo’s gamble on McGahee paying off in big way
‘There’s a good possibility that if Willis McGahee hadn’t torn up his knee in college football’s national championship game against Ohio State in 2003 that he’d be wearing a Detroit Lions uniform today.’
