‘It’s possible the Bills get by until McCargo’s healthy so that they don’t weaken another area by cutting a player to make roster room for another defensive tackle. “If you recall, John really didn’t fit into the rotation for three or four weeks. He got three or four snaps, maybe five one game,” Jauron said. “We’ll be OK (if that’s the route we chose).”’

Bears put Bills, Crowell in their place
‘”There were a lot of veterans out there who made mistakes, too. I wouldn’t say it was just the rookies,” Fletcher assessed.’
Losman Ready to Rebound; Spikes Update
‘"I think it’s important for my position in particular," said Losman of bouncing back from a poor performance. "But that goes for all positions. If you’re a receiver and you drop a ball you have to come back strong. If a lineman misses a block he has to come back strong. Every position it’s very, very important. And that separates great players from good players."’
Lee Evans
‘On getting more catches the past few weeks – I think that’s the goal — getting involved on first and second downs and moving the chains. We definitely have to get better on third down, that’s a point of emphasis, but to be able to help move the chains, keep the ball a little bit, get some first downs and keep the defense off the field. That’s kind of the mentality right now. If they want to put a bunch of guys in the box, we have to be able to throw the ball.’
Willis McGahee
‘On the importance of bouncing back after the loss to Chicago – It’s very important. We can’t keep taking losses like this. We have to find a way to win. We have to dig deep, stay together and not lose focus on what our goal is. We lost to Chicago, they were a good team, but you have to put it behind and not worry about it.’
Terrence McGee
‘On whether he feels he is playing as well at cornerback as he has in the past – These last two weeks, that little double move has been a little dagger in the heart, so I haven’t been playing the way I want to play. I expect it every week to come. I just have to patient and try not to jump on stuff and try to make some plays.’
Kyle Williams
‘On the disappointment of not stopping the run vs. Chicago – We want to stop the run as well as we can. We don’t want them to rush for any yards, but it’s not going to work that way every week. We have to learn from our mistakes and get better.’
London Fletcher-Baker
‘On Takeo Spikes having him back do for the defense – “Definitely Takeo is a tremendously talented football player, you just do not have guys with his abilities walking around all the time. When we are able to get him back out on the football field it will be a boost to our defense and a boost to our team, from a talent and a leadership standpoint.”‘
Nate Clements
‘On changing defense and being asked to do things differently have any affect on your game – “There are different philosophies and different cultures and I feel that me and Terrance have the ability to play in any style of defense, we are just those type of players.”‘
Takeo Spikes
‘On current situation – “What’s new compared to this week from last week, I had a pretty decent day in practice. I got more confidence out of today then I have probably in the past month, so that is a plus. Still I am not even worrying about Sunday, I am taking it day-by-day, making sure I am doing all of the little things right, knock the rust off and then when that time comes and presents itself I just want to be ready.”‘
Chris Villarrial
‘On how hard it was not to play last week – That was really tough. Unfortunately, it seems like every team has a game like that in the NFL where nothing comes together and that made it harder. I wanted to give the guys any little help. If the ship goes down, I want to go down with the ship. Hopefully we got that out of our system and we’re ready to go to Detroit for a four-quarter battle.’
JP Losman
‘On when he erased the Bears loss from his mind – I haven’t really erased it yet. I still have the taste in my mouth, probably for another couple of weeks. After looking at the tape, I still agree with everything I said after the game. It was a wakeup call for everybody, especially offensively. We have to be sharp and we can’t make mistakes. It’s important to do everything right. Check it down when you have to check it down, protect the ball, run the right routes, no missed calls. Today, the emphasis was being sharp, focusing on everything. I’m talking about the greatest concentration you can have on every play.’
Offensive Coordinator Steve Fairchild
‘On advice given to JP – “We talked afterwards in the locker room. I like his way about him on Sunday and obviously there are some throws he wants to have back. This process of developing a quarterback is going to be a road, he knows it and I know. I thought he was a tough guy and did not back down and I decided I liked his mannerisms. He was not flustered and was not pouting. What he has going for him is that he is a tough guy and he is buying into what we are doing and he is buying into the coaching and I think he will continue to improve and I am excited on where I think he can go.”‘
Head Coach Dick Jauron
‘On Larry Tripplett needing to produce – Larry is a guy that plays hard on every single snap, practice or games. We really like him. There are times when he gets doubled and does get moved, but there are times when he holds in there pretty good and makes plays. Like our entire team, he just need to be more consistent too. We’re happy with the way he plays, the leadership he gives us, and we believe that more plays will show up as we move along here and the team gets better.’
