‘Quarterback J.P. Losman had a miserable day against the Bears defense, getting sacked three times and throwing three interceptions.’

Bears run roughshod over Bills in 40-7 clinic at home
Bears let Jauron know where new team stands
‘The Bills had hoped to use Sunday’s game to gauge where their young team stood. Now they know. Jauron’s team has improved markedly this season, but there’s much work to be done before it is on equal footing with the league’s elite.’
Bills hand it to Bears: ‘Probably best in league’
”’With all the hype people were saying about them, we wanted to come in here and prove we could play with that team,” Reed said. They will have to wait to prove that some other day. Meanwhile, from coach Dick Jauron on down, almost every Bills player said this was a game they have to forget about as soon as possible. Dwelling on it won’t help them win next week in Detroit. ”It was their day,” Losman said.’
For Bills’ Jauron, call it an unhappy homecoming
‘According to Buffalo wide receiver Josh Reed, the fact Jauron was coaching against his former team wasn’t much of a factor in the Bills’ preparations. "This was just another road game," Reed said. "One of the things the guys respect about him is that you couldn’t tell how important this game was or wasn’t for him."’
Bears’ prey ó the Bills ó full of praise
‘"You have four guys rushing the passer and you have seven guys dropping back and covering three guys. Each guy counts on each other, and that’s what makes their defense so good," Evans said. "They’re one of the best football teams in the league. To beat them, you have to come into their place and play well, and we didn’t do it."’
Jauron’s return is all too familiar
‘”It was a long day for us, obviously,” Jauron said. “It just snowballed. We made enough errors to let it get out of hand, and then we could never get back into it. You can’t turn it over.”‘
Dead-end journey
‘It was not quite the homecoming reception Marv Levy had anticipated.’

Bills outclassed ó and they knew it
‘Getting blown out in Chicago is hardly unique these days. Still, it was troubling to see a team that had been so competitive in the opening four games come apart this way. The Bills were dominated on both sides of the ball. They seemed intimidated, rattled, skittish.’
Bills blitzed in Chicago
‘”All the things that we couldn’t have happen, happened. We made just enough errors to let it get out of hand and then we could never get back into it. But again, they deserve the credit. They made the plays and we did not.”‘
Dick, that fake punt was dumb
‘In a blowout like this it didn’t end up meaning much, but it sure didn’t help the cause. So, let’s hope Jauron learned his lesson. No more Mularkey Moments, please.’
Bears leave no reason to doubt their validity
‘”It was that kind of day,” wide receiver Josh Reed said. “Nothing could go right.”‘
Two-minute read
‘Turning point – Obviously there wasn’t one because the Bears were in control of the game the whole way.’
